Thinking of having her have a thing where she has an unusual egg cycle thing that, while she carries live young, for some reason or another she lays one egg a day to keep her ready to birth. The eggs would be about half a foot around each, so she'd have plenty of practice there.

Sounds like a super neat-o idea, gives her a nice twist. It could also function a little like a shark womb when she has live young occasionally the unborn could eat one of the unfertilized eggs she produces for extra sustenance.

Indeed I always saw Raspberry as having a large appetite and thought it'd probably be a more of a species-wide thing. Even when I jokingly named her parents "Cheesecake and Cherry Pie" the idea of them liking food-based names also seemed fun and silly for a species based off a large carnivore.
Mhm. I'd think that about 6 months would be the average time it would take for a Unirex mother to get enough calories for their little one to be completely developed. Maybe there would be contests among their species on who can have the fastest birth, spanning several months?
Well only after visiting a doctor first I doubt they'd want to shovel in food to try and have the quickest pregnancy if it might be bad for the child but they probably find the quicker pregnancies to be a sign of good health for both mother and child even if it's helped by food consumption.
