I think I've simply seen it done for unsavory acts or portrayed for horror a bit too often than not.
Knowing you however, I believe the risk for such events transpiring are next to none and it makes me wonder about the context.
So consider me curious ^^
Do you use it in conjunction with transformations, like it being the means for shapeshifting someone or part of the new form - temporary or otherwise - or just in general?

Yeah, the concept has sadly been taken to a bunch of pretty dark places more than once...
And about that, considering the fact that transformation often includes a more or less prominent mental aspect to the whole process, I like to think of it as simply another way of viewing it - the mental change being reflected in the physical form instead of the other way around. To me, it´s just another variation of the theme most of the time.
Still, I also find myself enjoying stories and material that focus on the hypnosis aspect alone, although I can definitely understand people who aren´t into it - it all comes down to personal taste, after all, and to be honest, I keep on being pleasantly surprised by stuff I randomly stumble over on a regular basis.^^

I've always liked the idea of the TFee's gaining, being somewhat influenced or otherwise affected by their new form's instincts one way or another myself - albeit as long as their mind and will remains whole and/or free - so this is quite a cool spin on it.
And likewise in both cases. I find that subjects like these are ofte very context dependant, so let me just say that you've certainly shown me a couple of nice alternatives and ideas on how to approach this and a few other things ^^
