Belphemon's wish
Slowly, Scav made his way up to the front gate of the castle before them. Using a thin layer of light to muffle his footsteps so that they wouldn't be so quickly detected. "I'm not as proficient as Max Or RD...but I think I could use this back when I'm back in the physical world."
Kiya raised an eyeridge, looking down at his friend's feet, and couldn't help but grin. "Just don't use it to peep on girls alright?"
That got a quiet snicker out of Scav, who grinned at the notion. "I'm not a pervert...Besides...you see that all the time in Manga and Anime. I'm not that cheesy. Besides..." Scav's grin dissapeared, looking at the Devidramon sleeping just infront of the front gate. "Unlike Max and RD...we aquired our light powers from the four lords. It would be a disgrace to misuse the gift they gave to us."
Kiya nodded in agreement, looking at the Devidramon guarding the gate and sighed. "They're sleeping. If we're quiet enough we can sneak past them."
"Don't count on it..." Scav mutted, using a claw to point at the outer walls of the castle. "Remember that Daemon's been goading us into coming here. He's expecting us. And if he's as intellegent as I assume he is...There's probably infered sensors surrounding the outer wall...If it senses any extra excess heat I'm sure an alarm will sound. Likely an earpiece inside of the Devidramon's ear canals." Scav sighed, scratching his head, then his frown turned into a grin. "We'll go into the air...I have no doubt there will be sensors on the roof top. But the enemy will be expecting us to go through the front gate since it's an easier way through. I want you to wrap a veil of light around me. Hopefully that'll keep the sensors off my back and we can sneak in right under Daemon's nose."
Kiya blinked, the request kind of surprised him, but he trusted Scav's judgement so far. With great concentration, Kiya barely managed to form a thin layer of light across Scav's large frame. Nobledramon was not by any means a small digimon. But given the gravity of the situation, he was quick to make sure their concealment was perfect. "Alright...Just try not to take too much time. I don't know how long I can keep us hidden."
"Just a couple minutes is all I'll need..." Scav muttered quietly, using his wings to carefully propell them upward, making his way to the roof top and scanning for any weak points. After a few dozen seconds, he pointed to an oddly deformed section of the roof and smirked. "How much ya wanna bet that leads straight into the kitchen...Or some other place that generates heat. The plating is warped...indicating an extreme heat that's bending the metal plates in ways it was never designed to."
Scav landed near the warped section of the roof and placed his claws over it's surface, smirking as it slowly gave way to his force. He made a small hole in the ceiling, looking in to see just what he expected. It looked like a massive kitchen with Bakemon all over the place. "Ok...we have about...12 Bakemon in here...If we act fast we can neutralize them before they can sound the warning bell."
Kiya smirked at that, showing his teeth. "Shouldn't be too hard..."
With that said, Scav pulled open the roof and dove in. His organic blade prodruding from his wrist and slashing into several Bakemon who were reduced to digieggs seconds later. Kiya's horns started glowing as a beam of light fired from his jaws to dispose of the remaining few ghosts. "I wonder what demon lords eat..." Scav muttered as he took a small breath.
"Whatever it is probably isn't edible for dragons." Kiya stuck his tongue out and pinched his nose. Whatever was cooking didn't smell at all appetizing, and both friends were eager to get out of the room as quick as possible.
The duo started padding through a narrow hallway. Dimly lit with low burning torches on the walls. It made Scav roll his eyes at the cliche. "I feel like I'm storming Ganon's castle."
Chuckling softly, Kiya soon found he couldn't quite catch up to Scav as a Dracomon and took the initiative to digivolve into his Drakonmon form. "I think you play too many video games."
"Maybe you just play too little?" Scav replied with a smirk. They came to a stop at a set of double doors. It was eerily quiet, which only further set the dreaded mood both of them were feeling. With a short nod, Scav carefully turned the handle of the door to the left and opened it slightly, what he saw surprised him.
There were several Goblimon running around a large room. Some were carrying huge stacks of paper, most of which were bright brought over to what looked like Wisemon, who was carefully reading over each document. It was weird...they almost looked like they were...normal. Wisemon turned his direction briefly to the direction of Scavenger and Kiya and smirked. "You may enter...but Daemon isn't in this part of the Castle..."
Both dragon's face faulted, they'd been found out so easily, despite their stealth. With a deep breath, Kiya and Scav both charged in, ready for a fight, though none of the digimon looked all too eager to get caught up in the violence. "Aren't...you working for him?"
Wisemon shrugged, turning his attention back to the documents placed before him, giving them a quick read through, then using his telekenisis to carry them to a table at his side. "I am...And you are most certainly my enemy. But I would rather not fight you so much as I'd like to understand you. Why fight when you don't even know why you're locked in combat in the first place?"
"A reasonable fellow for once..." Scav commented. He had to admit it was strange, he expected to go in guns blazing but this guy didn't seem at all interested in fighting. "We know why we're fighting though. You understand that the Darkness is going to devour everything if we let it don't you?"
"I'm aware that the Darkness is a being of pure malice...It does not think in it's current stage. Only feed, and destroy. But once it's served it's purpose and achieved it's ambition everyone and everything will be one. don't people in any civilization strive for unity?" Wisemon asked, setting down the papers to focus all of his attention on the pair of friends.
It was Kiya's turn to disagree as he shook his head. "What point is that unity if we all have to die for it to be achieved? We stop being ourselves. Only fragmented pieces of the same being. Furthermore..." Kiya pulled out his digivice to do a scan on Wisemon. "What point is there in ANYTHING if we have to give our entire being for it. If you ask me...it's better to work for your goals. That's why we fight the Darkness."
Rubbing his chin, Wisemon's glaring eyes narrowed in thought. "Unity through destruction isn't the way then? Destruction and creation go hand in hand, your logic is flawed."
"Destruction and creation have always been a part of this. The digital world has been reset three times now. It's why the saviors have been reincarnated multiple times over. Destruction and rebirth...So I ask you Wisemon...will you fight us? Or aid us?" Scav asked, crossing his arms.
Wisemon looked at the Goblimon spread about the room. "Do you believe that you can defeat Daemon and his pet?"
Scav grinned, lifting one finger above the rest. "If we didn't, then we wouldn't be here. The fact of the matter is, it's our fate to deal with Daemon. But who is his...pet?"
"Arukadhimon. It's a creature that constantly feeds on us. stripping us of our data. He has attained the power of a super ultimate, which before now...was thought only possible if he assimilated Daemon. But he used the data of one even more data potent than himself." Wisemon narrated with a sigh. "I believe you've heard of the fall of Azulongmon?"
For the first time since arriving, Scav and Kiya both stiffened. SD's eyes narrowed, becoming a very dangerous glare. "That bastard used Azulongmon to feed his abomination?! Where is this Arukadhimon now?"
Wisemon was about to reply, but there was a sudden quake that shook the castle, several pieces of stone dropping from the ceiling due to the damage. "That...would be him now. Looks like he's coming for you!"
With a snort, Scav and Kiya both took to the air, looking down at the ground as it was crumbling in many places. "Why would Daemon let Arukadhimon destroy his base? That doesn't make any sense!"
"This world was always meant to be a temporary base. The castle, has already served it's purpose. Our last orders were to remain here until Arukadhimon woke up for his feeding." The door behind them slammed shut, with Wisemon taking a deep breath. "You two were to become his next meal."
Kiya looked at the door sealing shut, then growled. "So this talk was just to distract us until he awoke?! You realize what this Arukadhimon can do right? According to Chronomon he is untamable."
"I am well aware." Wisemon snapped back. "I have no wish to die here but I can do nothing about that."
With a snarl, Scav whipped out his digivice. "Then all of you get in here. Nobody has to die senselessly."
That caught Wisemon by surprise, and for a few moments he didn't know what to say. "You would sa-" His words were cut off as he and the rest of the Goblimon were transferred into Scavenger's digivice.
The nobledramon stored his digivice within his body with a sigh. "You're a victim that was pulled into this. I'll deal with you AFTER we've taken care of buisiness."
"You ready?" Kiya asked quietly, looking to the ground below. The quakes were growing in strength, it wouldn't be much longer till their enemy was upon them. Then suddenly...The floor completely caved in as Arukadhimon sprang forth from below, an ear splitting roar came from a great blue creature, a pair of eyes decorated it's shoulders, giving it a very eerie appearance. "So this thing has the power of a Super ultimate...or an Ultra..."
"It's along the same class as Chronomon. But this time it's just you and me." Scav muttered out. Looking over to Kiya. "We'll need to stay in perfect form. Even one slip up could spell the end for us."
Snorting, Kiya nodded with his eyes narrowing.. "Right...I'll digivolve into Overdrive and we'll finish off this guy no time flat."
Back in the digital pyramid, Fang and Flare were in the middle of combat with Belphemon. The massive demon lord towered at least 40, 50 feet in the air...How someone could be so massive in this pyramid they did not know. Fang suspected that it was some sort of odd programming of the Pyramid, making the contents of the building larger than they really were. Fang had warp digivolved into his ZeedGarurumon form almost immediatly, As did Coronamon into Flaremon, and Flare into BurningGreymon.
"Bah! One mega and two ultimates isn't enough to take on this guy! he's simply toying with us!" Flare cried out, his entire body starting to catch flame, directing it towards Belphemon. "Wildfire Tsunami!"
Belphemon grinned toothily, staring at Flare with amusement. "Is that the best you can do?!" One of the chains wrapped over his frame shot forth and dissapated the flames, but it didn't stop there, it began to wrap itself around Flare's body. Squeezing him tight. "You are human like me...but you're too weak to really call upon your power of destruction!"
Growling, Flare squirmed in the chains. Taking a breath of relief as Flaremon managed to smash the chains restraining him. "I don't want to destroy! I want to go on adventures with my friends! Something I can't do if you remain in power."
"You're very foolish..." Belphamon snarled, the chains seemed to rebuild and attach to his body again. "That's exactly what I wanted to do at your age. Just explore the world, go on wild adventures with all of my friends. It was a fleeting dream though." Belphemon raised a claw in the air, as if trying to grasp something incorporeal. "We all fell deathly ill...and the world wanted nothing more than to snuff our dreams and ideals."
There was a faint glow within Fang's digivice, as Leo materialized himself, using his sword to balance himself. "We were on the verge of death yes...but you seemed unconcerned about your fate at the time. You were unimpressed...and undeniably submissive to the hand you were dealt. But you forget that the world we live in, ALSO gave us a second chance at life. We may not be as we were, but we still fight. The world can be cruel, but at the same time rewarding to those that don't give up despite the circumstances."
Fang was about to call Leo back into the digivice, but the lion shot him an angry glance. "I was the worst among us...I had weeks...if not a month or two to live. But our Master restored us. To say you hate the world because of what you've become is to spit on his efforts."
"You give our supposed Master...too much credit Leo!" Belphemon sniffed the air, growling. "He saved our lives yes. But we were also experimental pawns to him. The world cast us out, and turned us into lab rats."
eyes narrowing, Leo was about to respond, when he heard the familiar padding of boots scuffing through the stone flooring. Then, suddenly a gunshot fired, smacking at one of the chains that restrained Belphemon. The Beelzemon gripped the pair of shotguns in both hands, one of which had smoke trailing from it's muzzle. "We weren't forced into it jackass. The Master gave every one of us the choice. Those who weren't willing to undergo the experimentation were treated by normal means by the Master."
Belphemon turned his attention to the Beelzemon, with Leopardmon standing just beside the gun wielding demon. "The ones who declined treatment died and you know it. He knew it would happen. He simply wanted to justify his experimenting on live human test subjects. As I recall, you didn't want to undergo the surgery, Bang."
That got a blank stare from Bang, who holstered his shotguns and walked over to his brother, Leo. "I was against it completely. But I underwent surgery years after the rest of you." He stared blankly in Fang's direction, and smirked. "I had my reasons for finally accepting the conversion."
"All the same..." Belphemon huffed, looking at the lot of them. "What good is a world like this that could cause such an unnecessary procedure. To change us from what we'd been born to be."
Bang lifted two fingers to his eyeridge, teeth clenched. "Sometimes we are destined for greater. No two people carry the same fate. While I agree that there are a lot of problems with the world as it is now...especially in the HUMAN world. But there's also a lot of good things too. You take away the good and the bad and all you're left with is pure madness."
"I was hoping that I could convert all of you. Make you see that this is truely the best thing for the world. It's why I've been holding back from deleting any of you..." Belphemon spoke with a hint of regret in his voice.
Everyone covered their ears as Belphemon let loose a mighty roar that shook the building around them, it sent a chill down Burninggreymon and Flaremon's spines as they heard it. Bang growled as he grabbed his brothers hand. "YOU are in no condition for battle. Just sit tight."
"What do yo-!" Leo was cut off as he was pulled Bang glove for some reason.
Flexing the fabric, he noted the odd looks from the group and rolled his eyes. "Rush order...Had Smithy incorporate the storage capabilities of the digivice into my normal wear. Sure I can't do any purifying, or digivolving but I can at least keep my dumbass brother from getting himself killed a second time." He pointed his fist towards Fang, showing an odd, purple crystal imbedded into the fabric. "Only downside is it was created with a portion of my core. So there's no removing the glove after it's been put on."
"So then it's like my armor then." Fang pointed out, then grumbled. "Partially anyway. Well...we have one heck of a battle ahead of us then. I hope you came packing more surprises than just a glove and a pair of shotguns."
Scav growled in pain as he was slammed into a crumbling wall. No matter what they seemed to do, this Arukahdimon was way above their evolutionary ladder. "This is starting to get rediculous. It's like no matter what we do, he seems to be getting stronger and faster."
Pulling himself out of a pile of debris... Kiya's armor shimmered in his Overdrive form. "We'll win. We have to or we let everyone down."
Taking a deep breath, Scav started cooling off. "This guy has a weakness. We just have to find it."
"Well you won't find it just sitting around in the dirt and debris!" Sounded a feminine voice. Both friends looked around as they started searching for the owner of the voice, when suddenly a Megidramon burst through the sealed door, jaws agape as if to swallow Arukahdimon and took a huge chunk out of it's body, using it's tail for a secondary attack, knocking the super ultimate into the pit it had come from. Stepping through the remnants of what had been the sealed door came a human female with flowing black hair. She looked to be of middle age as she looked at the Megidramon. "Nova, how much time do you think we have till that behemoth comes back out of it's hiding hole?"
The Megidramon growled a bit, eyes staring maliciously into the darkness, before it spoke with a growling hiss. "A minute or two at best. I put everything I had into that hit."
Kiya and Scav both looked dumbfounded, until the latter's jaw practically dropped to the floor. "Y-y-you're Max's father?!?" He asked, pointing accusingly at the Megidramon, who simply nodded and glanced at him with feral eyes. "Then...that must mean...you're..." He addressed the woman, barely able to bring himself to utter the words.
"I'm his wife." She said with a small laugh, then raised an eyeridge. "Oh believe me...Nove begged me to reconsider coming to this world or even the digital world...but my mothers intuition kicked in. And I may be a mother but I'm also digidestined. You need all the help you can get. Now stay sharp...Round two's coming our way."
Meanwhile, in an unfamiliar location, Daemon was hovering calmly in place with two portals showing him events from Belphemon's endeavors, as well as Arukahdimon. He looked amused by the sudden human's appearance, or how she could exist in this world without being consumed by the dark. It caught him off guard and he wasn't quite expecting it. "Looks like I'll have to speed up my plans. Well Belphemon...I hope you don't mind me coming down to offer you some assistance." Daemon grinned darkly, then started stepping through the open portal, closing the other.
