featuring me and Paul.
Paul had given his little girl a big fat colouring book and her favourite box of crayons.
"now you girls play quietly okay." He spoke to gem and her playmate Emmy
"Gem, Daddy has work to do, so be good okay" Gem looked up with her big blue eyes. He smiled at her, ruffled her hair and then moved into teh room next door to continue working on his project. He could hear the girls playing in the hallway.
"bloo" He heard gem declare loudly, he smiled, That girl was obsessed with blue crayons, it seemed she was going through a strange phase, no doubt she would grow out of it in a week or two. Things descended into quiet as Paul worked and the girls coloured. Stupidly he assumed they were colouring in the book he had given them.
twenty minutes later they were still being quiet and pauls parenting senses were tingling. Little cubs were rarely quiet for that long unless they were up to something.
He got up from his desk and moved back out into his fairly recently decorated hallway and sighed.
The colouring book was completely untouched, instead every other surface possible had childish scrawls all over them. This was his fault of course. Gem looked up and saw her daddy, her face beaming proudly as she pointed to her creation.
"Daddeee..its yoo!" She patted the wall indictating the weird red and blue thing was him.
At least Gem had used more than one colour for the first time, although he wasn't sure why she had used red. She was growing so fast.
"thats.....great poppet...well done?" He wasnt sure if his response was a question a statement or a call for help.

Paul,
I've lost my job recently, so I'm open and available for babysitting jobs. If you'd like to send Gem my way for a week or so, I'm sure I'd be happy to take care of her for you. She's such a good baby, and smart, too! Of course, getting her to the West Coast of the U.S. might be pricey, but think of all the free quiet time you'd have.
Actually, you'd be worried sick over her, you'd fret every minute she was gone, and you'd worry if she was okay. She would be, of course, but no parent can't help but think those thoughts, as long as they really love their babies. I know you love Gem more than anything.
But, if you want a vacation, just send her my way for a while, and we'll have fun for the time she's here, and I'll remodel after she's gone!

There's two easy ways to fix that. baby oil or baking soda. Let them crayon all over the place, clean up is a snap!
