Endless Realms bestiary - Malachite Dragon
Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.
Malachite - cunning, shrewdness, business, wealth
Differing from other dragon concepts in the game so far, this dragon isn't a demigod or avatar of a particular elemental or cosmic force. For the gemstone dragons, I was given almost entirely free reign, so I decided to take inspiration from historical and pagan lore.
Pretty Malachite, although his expression is somewhat less so ;P I wanted one dragon that captured the cunning, covetous side of dragons, and malachite turned out to be the perfect opportunity! I'm just disappointed I didn't have him atop a treasure hoard, but I thought of it too late :b

Thank you! And yeah, I tried to keep the swirls tighter-seeming on the wings, so you can sort of imagine them expanding naturally and still looking proper when they're unfolded. Or maybe they have a crazy "liquid malachite" effect where the colours and bands are constantly swirling and in motion o_o
I can see this little guy being very mischievous. So I'm thinking this would be a tiny dragon like the size of a skink. If someone in your party has a bag it'll slip on in and take whatever it wants. Doesn't even need any magic to do anything. Though it would use magic to absorb a certain amount of material since it wouldn't be able to hold much. Then later on it'll try to sell your things back or trick you into wanting it so it'll make a profit. Just with a slightly green tent.
Hahha, yes, I could see that! I wasn't imagining him being quite -that- small, but wyrmlings for sure pull that stuff I'm betting! And I could see adults having illusion magic and things that let them alter their shape/size, so they can trick people more easily ;) Sort of a Loki-dragon!
