I've known about this combination for about a year and a half, but the original $275 asking price at the antique shop was too much. Shop has now been converted into a sewing supply shop and they advertised having some antiques left, so I stopped in. This unit was STILL there and at a much reduced cost! In an odd twist, I walked out with the last major piece of antique electronics that was at the old antique shop by buying this. It's complete and it looks like the CRT is attached to the chassis, a rare thing for RCA meaning the electronics can be pulled in one piece. The has the two phonographs. A 33/78 RPM changer in the bottom with a 45 changer on the other side.

Wow, this so reminds me of the Stromberg Carlson I picked up!

It too has two record changers and one is a 45 only changer.
VERY nice find! A REAL home entertainment center!

Ah! I wondered who might have gotten that set! A nice piece indeed! This RCA is a back breaker of a set, about 183 pounds according to some sources! I still have a unit with the 16 inch, metal CRT put away in the bus along with some parts. Might actually keep it now too, though I wish my spare 16 inch CRT hadn't self-destructed on me a few years back.
I couldn't help it.... I ended up with this one too...

I do know those metal CRTs can't handle extreme cold as the metal and glass contract at different rates and they will crack.
I had a Zenith porthole that broke and had a crack in the screen.

Unfortunately, that's probably what happened to the two tubes I had. Tim had all of them out in the storage buildings. I might have to check the one in the still intact RCA to see if it is intact or not. Dean has one sitting HIGH up on a shelf in his backroom where Tim put three olf CRT's. I might have to get up there and find out if it is still intact or not too. Sadly, 90% of these old sets sat in places like that when they went out of use.
