"The pride of the Mizuyama has arrived! I hope you brought an umbrella, because I'm going to rain on your parade!"
The Mizuyama family name is one steeped in history, dating back to the feudal ages of recorded history. Legend stated that the first mon to bear the family name learned the arts of killing from Suicine itself, and passed these traditions down for generations. As soon as the imperial ages ended, the Mizuyama vanished from history and legend.
Being what it is, legends are often half-true embellishings of what really was. The Mizuyama were not as a whole assassins, but a handful of their own took up the unsavory art in order to provide a neccessary evil in such a tumultuous time. After a point, such skills were considered beneath the 'modern' mon, and the branch of the family that practiced them broke away, even going so far as to change their name.
Courtney's rather old father (who is fast approaching 80) wasn't so much of an assassin as he was a mafia tough, and after losing his eldest son in a revenge killing, felt the need to break away from the life in order to shield his family from further trouble. The cost for his 'freedom' was an oath of silence and the first knuckle of both his pinky fingers, a price he gladly paid. Settling down and moving away, he was more than happy to be rid of his old, bloody past.
He didn't quite expect for his youngest son to have interest in the family's ancient history, and while he gladly indulged Courtney when he was young, he became concerned with the young man entered puberty with an even greater desire to learn more, going so far as to research into the Mizuyama history.
While intensely concerned, he felt the need to help his son work out his little infatuation with the glamorized past, and called in a few old favors with longtime friends. Before Courtney knew it, he was in the PCA, and couldn't be happier. A chance to hone his skills and further research his family lineage! His freshman year was spent as an independant before he decided to try his hand at leadership. Finding a trio of like-minded sophomores, they went ahead and tried to become Team Awesome.
The name was taken. They were the sixteenth team to ask.
Thus, they settled with Team Stronger.
Courtney is a bit of an ass, but a talented ass, and the sort of person who doesn't know when to quit when they're ahead... or behind. He's a bit obsessed with being a 'post-modern neo-ninja', but for all his annoying habits, he's actually a pretty good battler, relying on his natural surskit talents and impressive speed to play keepaway. When he's not battling, he's either sleeping, eating, or in the library -- outside of family study, he loves to read old feudal-era fiction novels, as well as history in general.
