1983..ah the memories ^^ I was in pre-school, E.T made us cry like willows and my dad returned from a business travel in El Paso TX.
That morning he showed us some brochures about the Atari 2600. I already knew about it, have seen in many places and commercials. But the idea of buying one was so great. Me and my whole family were happy.
Then he told us to look at the board cup..there was an atari 2600 joystick...then me and my siblinsg went in a "scavenger hunt" thru the house: the other joystick was inside the food container, the wireless base in a bureau and the main console in the oven! =D
Then we plugged and it was the very first day of many when yours truly would be a videogame lover to death. Our first game was Atari videocube, then space attack, Pac man, Raiders of the lost ark, Atari circus and...that's it. My dad grow tired of it and start to see it as an "evil presence" that made us lazy and fell in grades..which wasn't true but you know how dads then to overreact.

Wow, your first console! I had to wait for mine till I was, like, dunno, 12-13 years old? I remember playing at my friend's home... Pacman, Contra, Dizzy and stuff. And of course Super Mario! Ah, the memories...
You made me wanna do a series of childhood memories as well :) will you be angry if I.. *cough*... borrow the conception? :D

I was 22 at the time... and I was going to the cool place in the neighborhood, a Video Arcade place, coincidentally enough, named South of the Border!~ My favorite games were Ms PacMan, DigDug, Asteroids, and Missile Command!~ I think I spent $20 on quarters on day. Needless to say, there were also some neat pinball machines there, but I sucked on them! Thanks for the Memories, you cute buffalo~
I remember my first experience with pac-man was when I went to this holiday resort that had an arcade near the bottom, it was real fun back then. :3 Though my first ever videogame console was the PS2 that I owned. I cared for it so much because I had worked for it, instead of other means of getting it. Sounds pretty weird, but I always liked earning my stuff, even with my lazy attitude towards school work post grade 9. x3
Oh! Have you seen Slumdog Millionaire yet? I really wanna see it.

Back in olden days when I had an Apple ][ and a stillborn software company ...
I had a programmable Pac-Man game. In one screen, I removed ALL the walls, so the characters could move in any way. I would go around like the hands of a clock and when I felt it necessary, I would eat an energizer. I would set ghost AI at top level, so none would go astray and foul up my chasing them.
