I loved the Jive-talking guys and the translations, and then Barbara Billingly's lines
"just hang loose, blood. She gonna catch you on the rebound on the med side"
"What it is big momma, My momma didn't raise no dummies, I dug her rap."
"Cut me some slack, Jack. Chomp don't want no help, Chomp don't get no help. Jive ass dudes got no brains anyhow."
Then there's the other little commercial nod that has definitely gotten lost over time.
"Jim never has a second cup of coffee at home"
"I want every light you can find poured onto that runway."
"It's being done right now"
So many puns.
Oh and Mrs. Oveur in bed with a horse. WTF? … In 1980? Racy! Did you notice, they put the horse in the credits at the end of the movie too. His/her name was Windy. LOL
Wow, I'm starting to ramble. It's all your fault for making me remember this great movie.

Lmao that was my favorite part too along with
"Striker... Striker..." *a guy in the back punches a woman in the face knocking her out*
Or (something like) "There's a bomb on the plane..."
"a Bo-?"
"no, not a "buh", a bomb."
Jeez I havent seen that movie in almost 30-some years!!

You really need to make it a point to sit yourself down and grab a bowl of popcorn, turn off the phone, and just laugh you arse off for 90 minutes.
Or what about the part in the hospital where Ted and Elaine hear moaning from one of the adjacent beds.
"What's his problem?"
"That's Lieutenant Horowitz. Severe shell shock. Thinks he's Ethel Merman."
"You'll be swell. You'll be great. Gonna have the whole world on a plate."
So many stupid little scenes. I like the ones you brought up too.
Or "Gunderson, check the radar range. Anything?"
<checks a huge-ass microwave oven>
"Another 2 minutes chief"
"2 minutes? They could be miles off course!"
"That's impossible! They're on instruments"
<crew playing rag time music>
If I don't stop now, I'm just going to do a one-man version of the whole damn movie LOL

I still remember that scene the women working her way through everybody on the plane wanting to have her first time because she didn't want to diverge in I think she even got as far as finding a horse on the plane
god i miss Leslie Nielsen! And I found out Prats died to day so somewheres. There's a red Corvette out in purple rain. If my math is right that pretty much just leaves 80 Murphy.
i figure this movie is at least up there with space balls and top-secret;) god . There were so many little comedy jams that snuck out back in the 1980s that are really obscure. Nowadays.
Caddy shack is another example. I've never actually seen the complete two movies just parts of them.i recently got a hold of them on DVD but never got around to watching them. Never seen blazing saddles, but I'm familiar with it.
History of the world. I seen most of it at one point.god i still wish I had the opportunity to get into acting , Leslie did such a good job of the straight man its 1 of my personal favorite comic bits that you just never see get used anymore. That style of comedy just kind of disappeared and I never see it used in movies anymore. For people that aren't familiar with the term it's one particular character who is constantly very straight cut
and almost deadpan and constantly serious, no matter what is going on around them, whether it be insane or absurd like they are totally oblivious to the insanity. Another thing he did well were those bizarre facial expressions. There aren't a lot of actors that could pull off the kind of work he did.the straight man in itself is very hard to carry without having people think that you are William Shatnerating.
At some point I'm going to have to see if somebody's made a list of 80's comedies that were the same style of movie as airplane.
