how does one get the demon as a rescuer?

Not in particular, no.

A lot of people want Nazar in their lives.

Killik was a lot of fun, Greaves gets an honorable mention though.

I would also like to mention, finding a character I created previously out in the wild was a pleasant surprise.
Reading about it is one thing, experiencing it, quite another.

+1 for Greaves. The man is my rock.

Those votes are pretty lopsided towards the orcs, heh.

Igot as far as the demo goes with Rosaline. I made multiple characters to see who else i could get, though! I think she compliments my playstyle though, sinxe i split my characters points between physical and magic damaging.

While my favor goes to Nazar (both for tactical reasons, and because big beefy orc), I should mention Moria was my first blind playthrough partner (and I managed to get her wounded trying to escape), and they all seem like they have some interesting back stories and/or reasons for breaking you out.

Kirilo's possibly my favorite character in the demo, but I kind of prefer him as somebody you find on your quest just cause him running in alone to save a group of strangers without knowing he'd have back up is kind of badass.

Unsurprisingly considering your fanbase, the women (and zombie) are near the bottom while the guy with the biggest muscles and wearing the least amount of clothes is at the top.

Borgnina was my favorite.

Having a faithful person battle with your horde of sexy men was literally the best!
I was surprised to get her on my buggerer, ever since she's been one of my favorite.

Huh, looks like you accidentally gave Vankan Peregrine's sprite. I was looking for him forever! He was a good partner for my Tanky-Bruiser Revolutionary Girl, blasting enemies from afar with green lasers. Once I got more people who could tank/assist damage, I made myself a mighty gang that was able to take on (what I assume) to be the final boss of the demo, the HUGE gang of Highwaymen. Him being an intellectual sort kinda helped endear him to me.

And just to throw in my two cents, Peregrine's a pretty....unfabulous rescuer. The first few stages were pretty difficult for me, so I'd rather have a solid fighting duo, hinging on rescuing Bato for Utility and Puzzles.
