It doesn't have to be furry to be good :) Backgrounds are my own greatest weak point, so anyone that can do them "that" quick, and with "that" kinda skill is really good in my book :)

That's pretty good. It looks better from far away, seriously. from a distance, it looks more like a photo.

Y'know what's sad, is that I was actually keeping his shows in mind while making this ... and now I'm imagining how he'd paint the foreground to keep it from looking too busy. But I can't "gently dab my two-inch brush" onto my pallete in Painter.

You are not BobRoss! :O Those trees are not happy, there's no water, and you didn't start with blue for the sky! Shame on you!

*Hangs head in shame* You're right! I didn't even put in a rickety old cabin! Or a huge dead tree in the extreme foreground! I've failed you, master!

the reason why you move from the sky to the foreground is because the sky affects all the other colors in the rest of the peice. if there is anything off about this peice its not how bussy the foreground is, i think that works well, it is the disparety in color between the forground and the bacround. the color of the sky is not carried throughout the highlighted areas of the foliage in the foreground. that is realy just a minor thing but becase someone mentioned it jokingly i had to clarify the reasons behind it. the color works fine and this is a great peice. acomplising this in an hour is quite an acomplishment, and you did something that bob ross dosnt realy do, you added some fealing into this peice. there is added content in the contrast between the deadend backround and the lively foreground, you managed to show your angst in the form of a landscape. you have some wonderfull linework in this peice and you found some beautifull colors too. keep up the good work.

Heh ... I used a photo for reference. I chose it because I really like fog and wet, rainy weather. Reminded me of northern Oregon. God, that area is beautiful.

... and just outside the frame there are hyper herm deer duking it out. Nah just kidding :)

It's a nice change of pace and the forest looks quite serene. It kinda has details with details if that makes any sense. Eh how to explain it... well it looks awesome when you look at it as a whole.

Anyhow this is nice and I hope I'll see more but don't forget the deer completely either :D

I read that in just about ever painting tutorial I've ever read, that you should put the barest amount of detail possible, and let the viewer's mind fill in the gaps. I guess I must have succeeded to some extent, but it still needs work.

Anything can be a phallic symbol if you stare at it long enough. In fact, HEY! That tree in the background is kind of at an odd angle, isn't it!?

Wow, this painting really DID set some of the pornophiles back and confused looking for naughty bits X^D I'm sure if one squints you can find something faintly suggestive X^D

Beautiful speed painting, I actually like this kind of style from time to time; I actually love the top part of it because I like imagining what else might be in the distance.

You know, I don't recall you ever doing a landscape picture before. Not bad for a first shot and one done under an hour.

I've done several over the past few years, but always as backgrounds. Never as a picture unto themselves, yeah.

That's amazingly good and complex for such a short time's work.

Put a smiley face on one of the trees and it's all good.
