Corvids are amazing. They are beautiful, intelligent and quite versatile. With more than 120 species it’s a pity that only a few popular species can be found in art. So I painted one of the lesser-known ones with an odd English name, the Alpine Chough.
It’s finally finished! Just over a year ago I started drawing some mountains and a sketch of the bird. Then I wasn’t sure how to continue and didn’t touch it again in months. But I liked the idea enough to rework it now.

This picture is terribly underappreciated. You wer excellent wi the realistic textures, though I see hints of simplificati on the Alpine Chough. You also did great in having distance determine the level of detail in the mountains.
There is an interesting use of lighting, since the dark Alpine Chough is dark, but put against a very light sky, which mades into ever-darker mountains, though the blue and yelow hues make sure tha they stand out of the black Alpine Chough.
