Wow, the last couple weeks kept me way too busy with taxes and then architecture work. Finally had a quiet night last night and was able to work on chainmail stuff. This was a dog collar in stainless steel. The weave is European 6-in-1. The buckle is aluminum. This was basically a longer, large-dog-sized version of this person-sized choker necklace/collar.

I don't know, box chain is more of a round chain type of weave, and for a collar I think flat wide strips work better. But regardless, the customer asked for this weave.
Yeah, this is the best attachment means I've come up with for this weave. It's at least simple and relatively small. I've also experimented with splitting the 6-in-1 weave apart into the component 4-in-1 chains, extending those a tiny bit, then joining them with a corduroy row to trap the weave around the post. It felt cool to make, but it was awkward and bulky once it was done.
Perhaps thin out the weave to fit in the hole of the buckle, then weave it back on itself a little bit. Or maybe shift it to a different type of weave that hooks more naturally. Maybe not a european, but I can't say I'm versed enough in the different types of weaves to know which one would be better. But the thing in my head is something like a shift to an inch of byzantine side by side.
