A custom drum commission - this is an 8" hoop drum made from deer rawhide on a pine frame. (Detail shot at the bottom).
I was given the character design and the theme 'flying about limits/boundaries' and the color scheme of powder blue and deep magenta/purple/blue! Definitely a challenge but I actually like how it blended in the end!

Yes, it is fully usable! I coat all of my drums with a protective acrylic layer so you can play them - it's actually very strong and can withstand a lot of drumming. I know some people who have had their drums for more than ten years that look like they got them yesterday. :)
