A character reference sheet for Jaffer Roshak, the white feathered avian.
I don't draw avians very often - this was pretty fun... and I really like how his feet turned out. Also, I used Nambroth's wing tutorial: http://nambroth.deviantart.com/art/.....Wings-96309379 for help on the wing feathers, and that was immensely helpful ^.^ ... I'm prone to "backwards feathers".

Depends what it was... Usually I get all the problems with the drawing sorted out before I commit to the ink and paint ... but if I color something incorrectly - usually I can paint over it with a different color, or I suppose I could adjust it digitally as a last resort, though I've never had to do that.
Not a problem. Non archival means that over time, the acids in certain materials like white out and sharpies (office supplies that are not specially for making art) can make the paper change color (usually turns it yellow and makes it look pretty bad)... so archival materials are those that will last and not fade or become discolored over time...
Acrylic paints are a water-based paint that have a very quick drying time... and are rather versatile and can be used in many ways. Some people add a retardant to the paint to make it dry more slowly so they can work with it longer... Golden is a good brand of acrylic paints - although there are many brands and varieties. I am partial to Golden fluid acrylics - as they are more .. well, fluid - and easier to work with - they dry a bit more slowly than the tubed variety.
I would say that for a beginner, acrylic paints are rather advanced and would probably be frustrating... Most beginner artists start with colored pencils for a coloring medium.. (that is what I started with), as they are more forgiving.. and easier to use. I would recommend a set of Prismacolor pencils..
