...yeah, definitely a vocoder, then. Speaker + large enough box to fit it in + a decent length of tubing. Hook it up with enough hardware to safely and securely contain everything, connect it to a power source, and then hook it up to a keyboard or other instrument. It looks easy enough, but I'd need to devote a decent weekend to it.
