Ohhhh man, you guys! I'm really really excited to have this available, finally! Here's the blurb for the curious:
Welcome to the Zone, a weird wasteland where some years ago a catastrophic event occurred blurred the boundaries between realities. Rumours speak of wild, half-human creatures that patrol the area, while impossible Anomalies can catch even the most careful off-guard. But they also speak of the fabulous wealth that can come from sneaking into the Zone and escaping with some small, valuable item. When Anya finally decides to take that risk she suddenly finds herself lost, facing a long and dangerous trek to escape. And someone, or something, has taken an interest in her...
Escape From The Zone is an illustrated story set in a world inspired by Roadside Picnic (the story that inspired STALKER). It features 12+ full-color illustrations by Angrboda. The story was written by Abe E Seedy, and follows on from previous works in this setting such as the freely-available Abduction: Life In The Zone, and the Abduction sequence from the artbook Injection. Themes include slow draconic transformation, corruption, f/f, m/f/f, eggs, and more.
I busted my rear on this one, for real, and I'm hella proud of the result. Easily one of the hottest things I've put out in a while! I was shooting for an illustrated story that never had more than 3 pages of text in between illos, to keep the story moving and show the maximum amount of process. The TF in this takes place over the entire story, and it's goooood. Abe completely killed it, but dragongirls are p squarely in his wheelhouse. I've been obsessed with pseudo-radiation / post meltdown / science fiction TF scenarios for literally ever, so this is a complete passion project.
I'm charging 7.00 for it, so you get four months' worth of work for about the price of dinner at McD's. I hope you all dig it! Thank you so much for your support throughout the years; I'm really excited that I have opportunities like this to make stuff I'm really psyched about and I hope to be able to continue for a long time!

Thank you! I hope you dig it.
I've been a total junkie about Chernobyl stuff forever - it's really scary and awful IRL, obviously, but there's something compelling about it - obviously in real life radiation doesn't do TF stuff (it just kills you in a really terrible way) but fiction gives us the opportunity to explore alternatives to actual physical science. When I read Roadside Picnic (which was written before the disaster and is linked culturally as a source for a lot of the terminology used surrounding it) I really liked that type of setting and I thought that it had a lot of interesting possibilities for a TF thing.
I set today as a kind of arbitrary deadline to get the book done and it just worked out that I met my goal. I don't mean anything disrespectful, since the disaster was (and still is) legit awful, but there you go, I guess.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to imply anything disrespectful, and yeah, I've been absolutely fascinated by chernobyl for years, it's obviously a terrible event and yeah, radiation messes a person up pretty hard. There's certainly something compelling about the event though, even the fact that it's the best preserved nature reserve on Earth gives such a strange viewpoint on the state that we leave things.. I've always been fascinated by ghost towns, and I'm hoping I can convince my mate that we should go visit Chernobyl/Pripyat before they close the new containment structure over the sarcophagus next year (which was due to be completed in 2005, but no one wants to spend the money on it :( )
Sorry, I could pour text about that event for hours, it's been fascinating me for a decade now ^_^;
But yes, cannot wait to read the story, but now I have work, my timezone hasn't lined up so well, heh

Thank you for the feedback! I've had people who really enjoy the free releases and people who wished we just put the time into pay stuff instead (b/c those ultimately include more content) and I'm always curious if I'm making people happy w/ the occasional free book. I have a similar bonus planned as a thank you for this one (it's already done incredibly well) so I hope you dig that as well!
Roadside picnic? This is a translation of it:
http://soviethistory.msu.edu/wp-con...../10/picnic.pdf
(the original is Russian). I can't attest to how good that translation is because it's not the one I read. If you google Roadside Picnic PDF, you get a couple different ones.
The story itself doesn't have anything hot in it, but it's really influential and has a lot of interesting ideas. The terminology in it even influenced the terminology used around the Chernobyl accident.
