Two dragons came from two separate backgrounds. One was a sapphire colored dragon with black hair and red eyes, he was elegant, handsome, and well groomed, he had been a pampered dragon and shielded from harm most of his life and spoiled by his parents who raised him without harm. And another dragon, a slate horned stone like pale blue dragon with a vile temper who had not been spoiled.
Unlike the sapphire dragon, this slate dragon had been through some difficult times in his life just trying to survive. But it didn't matter the backgrounds now, as both dragons had been taken from the wild and put in captivity for the public. Other anthros such as wolfs, deer, crocs and others came to see these feral creatures who were not like them, still there was some animals on the planet that did not take anthropomorphic form like most furries and scalies, the slate dragon was placed behind a glass for people to see but he never was one to emerge for the public eye.
Often he stayed hidden, and was soon given a nickname, the shadow dragon. Not alone this he also seemingly scared people sometimes with his anger, his rage and snarls against them. He was clearly not a happy dragon, but behind glass he could do no harm. Unlike the slate dragon though, the sapphire dragon almost admired the attention, perhaps even a little to much as he was out going and attracted the public to him, this in turn slowly drew more attention onto him for his beautiful scales and his positive friendly nature.
Over time the people running the park wanted to attempt and breed the ferals, so a female dragon was placed in each cell to attempt an populate and create more. The sapphire dragon had problems dealing with female dragons as they ended up not mating with him or liking him to be frank, something about him they just turned away and refused to mate leaving him alone and sad.
The slate dragon had no desire to mate and had no desire to share his cell as he ended up in fights with the female dragon who tried to establish her own dominance. She failed miserably as the slate dragon was just to strong, and they ended up having to remove her. And soon the other was removed from the sapphire ones as well as he was shown to be more depressed with an unwilling mate.
"We need to do something about these dragons, they both seem to have issues." Said one of the employees.
"I know, I'm sure the boss will find some way to get them kicking and attracting more people. Perhaps they just need a little more food or care, you know how some people mistreat animals." Said the other as the days went on.
Soon the sapphire dragon caught eye of the slate dragon and would seemingly watch him in his cell from afar, curious as to what he was doing. He noticed, that on some nights the slate dragon, no matter how mean he was, actually seemed...sad, and sometimes, the sapphire dragon seen him cry to himself...this in turn made the sapphire dragon feel bad for him because he too knew what it meant to be depressed, but unable to do anything, he coiled up and soon went to sleep wondering what the next few weeks would have.
As the weeks continued on; so too did the sapphire dragon pay attention to his surroundings, and the slate dragon. One day the boss had made a call that they were going to move the slate dragon into the sapphire dragon's huge cage. The employee's were against it, seeing what the slate dragon had done to almost anyone nearby or put into the cage, they didn't want to see the sapphire dragon get hurt. But the boss didn't care, they needed to make room for new animals and the slate dragon was going to be with the sapphire one, end of story.
That day, after closing hours, it was time to move the slate to the sapphire, and they did so with bindings to ensure he could not escape, he was leashed, collared, and even his arms/legs were restrained forcefully by specialists. The slate dragon was very unhappy, grumpy, as he was being carried by crane from one cage to the other. The sapphire dragon seen them moving the slate over his cage, the top opening up they began to lower the slate in.
The employee's were nervous because of the nasty temper the slate was known to have but the sapphire seemed very interested in having a friend. He was already sniffing him as the slate came down to his level, the slate growling in annoyance as the crane released him, pulled up and the roof closed. The bindings were set to remote release. The sapphire dragon was still identifying the new slate sniffing all over him when his bindings were released- and the slate retaliated by slashing and running away from the sapphire.
The sapphire was confused, a little hurt, and wondered why he ran away. He followed after but as he approached the slate made it abundantly clear he wanted to be left alone, growling at him from a dark corner with blood red eyes glowing, the sapphire knew when to back down as he lied down looking at him with sad eyes. the employee's breathed a sign of relief that the sapphire wasn't hurt as bad as the female dragons put in, but they also wondered...why?
a few days past since the slate was put in with the sapphire, and the sapphire was trying to figure him out. Sometimes the slate would come out to play with objects when nobody was around, and even sometimes looked proud of himself or his accomplishments, however, this was very few times and considered incredibly rare to the sapphire. Mostly what he seen was a reclusive, and depressed dragon, but every-time he tried to comfort him with his presence, the slate would slash at him and retreat to what became his hiding hole, which was the sapphires older bed before the slate moved in.
>W>
The sapphire didn't know why, but he liked the attitude of the slate, he felt a sense of, he needs some attention. So he never gave up on trying to help the slate, and one night, the slate was visibly having a nightmare as he was kicking and punching his claws and hind legs, tossing and turning and from the looks of it, even sweating. The ruckus awoke the sapphire as he came to the slate's side, he gently nuzzled his side and the slate quickly awoke and slashed at him again, he then growled at the sapphire but the sapphire let out a little murmur and nudged is head against the slate.
Instinctively and almost out of fear from his own nightmare, the slate did not attack again, instead his snarl turned to a somewhat confused, and sad look as he felt...comforted, having someone there when he woke up. But then, he nudged it off and pushed the sapphire away, turning around to go back to sleep. The sapphire however, was persistent, and laid across the slates in the stomach region almost covering him like a blanket. The slate growled in response but, something inside him, allowed it for the night.
The next few days were somewhat similar, the slate was having some issues and the sapphire would come to his side, but was often times rejected. The sapphire was more persistent and it was recognized by the employee's and the people who seen the two. It soon became a thing of attraction, where people were calling the sapphire and slate the negative attractions. But nothing official was ever established between the two, the slate was still reclusive and to himself.
-one night- the slate dragon had awoke from a nightmare, and he began to cry to himself. He didn't understand why he had these nightmares, he felt scared, frightened, alone, and and- he was then nuzzled by the sapphire dragon who heard his whimpering and came to his side.
"Mrrrrr." the sapphire dragon trilled with a low tone, almost like that of love. For once in a long while, the slate dragon cracked a small grin, and let the sapphire comfort him. He in fact, nuzzled the sapphire back while shedding some tears, happy to at least not be alone in this.
the next day in march the boss decided to separate the dragons seeing as the slate was not ideally getting along with the sapphire at least too their eyes, and the employee's hardly had a problem with it. The slate showed some resistance as though he wanted to remain there but the sapphire looked devastated. As though something very important to him was being taken away from him. The slate got his wish, was back alone, in his cage, with nobody to comfort him and nobody to share his space with. Was the slate happy? No even sadder as he would later go to sleep that week and not have anyone there by his side.
The sapphire dragon, spent the week in sadness, so much sorrow he refused to eat, let alone drink. It seemed as though something was missing from both their lives, and the attraction, the public, the people and the employees could all see it. Night time drew and the dragons would sometimes stare at each other, one behind glass, the other behind bars, feeling lost the sapphire did what he usually did, lied down and slept feeling more alone then ever before, the slate did so in similar fashion.
Within the week, a petition arose, the public grew tired of seeing the clearly sad dragons, sad for being separated, and soon the public was heard and the boss had no choice but to move the slate back. The slate was actually, happy to hear this as he showed almost no restraint to being moved, almost like he wanted to go back. The sapphire dragon, still so depressed, was silently sobbing to himself not even caring to pay attention to what had been happening. But he was in for a big surprise as the slate was lowered into the cage and released.
Immediately, his first reaction; was to go to the sapphire. He came crawling over to him and butted his head against the sapphires, but the sapphire was to depressed to move. So the slate butted heads again-
"Mrrrrr?" The slate said with a concerned expression of sorrow. The public watched for the reaction of the sapphire, and the sapphire was nudged enough he looked up and seen the slate, and the slate gave him a big ol dragon kiss (licking him on the snout up) with little hearts fluttering like a Japanese anime. the Sapphire was shocked by the kiss as he blushed and murmured back before licking the slate happy to see him again. Both spirits being lifted, the slate did what he wanted to for a long time since separation.
He lied down, beside the sapphire dragon, rested his head on his, closed his eyes, and began to sleep, soundly, and peacefully, knowing his mate was right there beside him. The sapphire rested his head over the slates and let out a deep trill of love as the crowds hearts melted to see the two re-united, and it was official, the two dragons became known as a sensation of love, gay dragons and how one depressed angry dragon can find love in the nicest of people, even if he doesn't want it at first.

I wanted to express how he's changed and my dedication to him summed up in a feral unique story involving Sapphire dragon (me Durgon) and slate dragon (him Dukaan) and I don't know what type of story you call this but it almost feels like poetry even though its not. Comments, and favs are appreciated.
