
Just mucking around with my strobes and gels a bit tonight. Trying for a low-key look, the sort of thing you might see in a noir film.
Strobist details, for the curious:
Left of frame is a CTO-gelled flash firing at full power into a silver umbrella, close to the cheetah so that it falls off very quickly toward the right of the frame.
To the right and back of the frame is a ND.3-gelled flash at 1/16th power acting as a rim light. A gobo was placed down to prevent the lens flaring.
The blue colour cast of the right lightsource and the background comes from having the camera set to Tungsten whitebalance (which turns the CTO-gelled left lightsource to 'white', and everything else very blue).

Hrm, I like the shot and the use of the lighting but you should also try to put a sofy light below with a white reflective material... Well at least for this shot maybe even a blue light, very soft and dim on the left side might've highlighed the features on the right side very subtly if you get what i'm saying...
