Bestiary artwork for Endless Realms, a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.

Pyrite - clarity, awareness, recovery, protection

Differing from other dragon concepts in the game so far, this dragon isn't a demigod or avatar of a particular elemental or cosmic force. For the gemstone dragons, I was given almost entirely free reign, so I decided to take inspiration from historical and pagan lore.

Last dragon for now! Handsome Pyrite looking noble and watchful :3

Chemical and electrical properties aside, I think pyrite is actually more beautiful overall. It forms some amazing looking structures in nature.

Yeah, you get some neat cubism going on :b Tried to put hints of that in the dragon's plating.

This is exactly what a pyrite dragon should look like x3
though isn't the nickname for pyrite "pirates gold"? thought that would have to do more with the characteristics of the dragon... but :3 nj :D

Yeah, pirate's or fool's gold, although that doesn't have anything to do with its inherent physical properties or the pagan/historical lore pertaining to its supposed magical powers, so I left that out :b

I gueeeeeesss... I think artists draw smaller wings out of convenience usually, so now it's become sorta expected? I think big wings actually make a lot of sense, and I guess I tend to focus in on images that have them.
