Time isn't a 2-d line rather a 3-D structure to complex to draw or illstruate. Simply imagine you have a line. This is a timeline and everything and everyone has one. lets think about living beings.
we all have personal timelines that intersect with each other were we interact and these intersections are almost constant. Events are points where the line splits into branches which are choices. the line may also split at the point a mother conceives. the amount of branches and the 'length' of a timeline maybe based on the type of organism
the direction taken at the split in your timeline can be based on the idea of destiny or fate , where you have no control over your life's direction, or free will , where you determine your life's direction.
