Launchpad McQuack Sketches
I'm quite fond of Launchpad. In fact he is the FIRST Disney show character to cross over into another show. Anyway, this is my post show rough sketches and concept art of Launchpad for my post show DWD universe.
Not many changes. I gave him an aviator jacket, changed his goggle style.. Kept his lucky scarf though. Biggest change would have to be his shaggy hair.
A little bit of Trivia:
Launchpad's voice actor is Terrance (Terry) Mcgovern. Who, before his Disney career, worked as a voice over for some storm troopers in the first Star Wars movies. ( "These aren't the Droids we're looking for." )
But before that he was working on another one of George Lucas's films, and had arrived late for a recording session. His best friend Bill Wookey had driven him so jokingly he said "Sorry I'm late, I had an accident, I ran over my pet Wookie back there!"
Lucas was so taken by 'Wookie' that years later while naming Chewbacca's race it stuck.
And that's all for Dox's useless information moment.

"In fact he is the only Disney show character to cross over into another show" Actually that's not so. Donald was the first, followed by his nephews(in that show with the family of robbers and the man who was always trying to steal , and Goofy. Plenty of Disney characters have crossed over the decades. The nephews went from Donald's uncle Scrooge's show, Duck Tales, and took their Uncle to Quack Pack, they also took Donald's uncle, and the scientist, the one with the German accent(I watched a -lot- of cartoons)
I like your concepts though, I have a friend who's obsessed with Darkwing right now, she'd DIE if she saw them XD She's such a goober. Launchpad was one of my favorites too

Sorry. I'm sure I meant to write 'first'. X D And Donald was in DuckTales(1987) with Launchpad(not really as a main character though), BUT Quack Pack(1996) was AFTER (about 5 years after) Darkwing(1991), so Launchpad made the cross over first.
And yes, many Disney characters have gotten their own FIRST show's over the decades, GoofTroop and all. (Goofy didn't have a show before or after Goof Troop. Movies and shorts? Yes. Actual shows? No. )
Ludwig Von Drake was the scientist duck with the German accent, I love him. X D
(Also have watched a -lot- of cartoons.)

XD Thats his name! UGH why can I never remember it? And thanks for the correction. I can never remember dates...Wow, Ducktales is that old already? I feel old XD; Really really old. I remember that and Tail spin and the Chip and Dale rescuers. @_@ I feel -really- old knowing how far back they are XD; good grief.
Thats sad, I wish they did more Goofy things. He's always been my favorite.(he's in House of Mouse as a regular, he worked in the kitchen and his son was a waiter. I always wondered who Max's mother was.)
I should link your page here to my friend though, but I think she'd have a fangirl heart attack XD;

You're welcome. When I see her on I'll send her a link.(I do count it LOL) XD If you say so. I talk about these things to my baby brother(late in life miracle child. Oy) and he's like "...What're you talking about" He doesn't even know what Doug is. Or mummies alive or any of the good old cartoons. It's like you're talking to an alien race anymore. Its saddening. It makes me want to save up the money and buy dvd's of these things. Its' sad but even my Ex didn't know what these things were, or what the never ending story was. why are people letting the good times die? Bad enough the art is starting to suffer. -_-; (please stop me if I'm boring you)
Oh no no, not boring. I agree. But then againt he generation before us thought the same thing, and the generation after us is going to look at the one after THEM like 'uhg you just don't know how good it was!'
Either way, I'm glad I grew up when I did and caught the Toon Disney Golden age and all of the amazing movies of puppetry.

I kind of miss the puppetry. All the digital animation was fun at first but I was still expecting it to be nothing more than a fad. I remember seeing Toy Story for the first think and thinking "oh, how cool. Okay Disney, thats nice, when's the next good traditional cartoon coming out?" I mean, I liked seeing those kinds of things, but I'm getting bored with them now. I saw Little Mermaid, the prequel, and I just about cried.
Remember the muppets? not the puppet one, the animated one where they were kids?

Muppet babies, yeah. That show taught me how to play pretend.
Anyway. About the 3-D animation. I could write lengths on my thoughts with that but basically it was a gimmick at first but now creative geniuses are picking up the CGI paintbrush and giving it a try, like Brad Bird (Iron Giant, Incredibles, Ratatouille), and it's producing wonderful things.. And usually things that have 2-d animation to add a flourish.
Not saying to completely leave 2-d behind, hell no. But sadly there are only a few companies out there that could pour that much money into a 2-D project. And CGI is where the money is, they're going with the cash cow. But every artist that complains about it doesn't do anything about it. Pick up a pencil and animate, create your own content, write letters, it's a whole different world.

It's not generally true. But it's really sad when you see the geniuses like the score writers and old animators, people who worked on Bambi and TLM are dying off. I would have loved to sit with them and take an hours worth of learning from them.
I'm actually working on getting a degree in art and computers so I can get into the field myself. Its been my dream since I was a little kid. I'm working on it.
But then you get these things that are all done on computer and the good old style, hand drawn and painted traditional cells dying. Thats what I've wanted to learn forever.
What about you? You do all these fantastic sketches, where do your goals lie?
