crux, who also inspired this story!
The "Tiger Wish" piece actually does exist, and was part of the Thursday Prompt from
poetigress. The image in question is over on Vantid's page!

"This is such a stirring picture," Venti said, looking at an image of a tigress reaching up with her palm out to someone outside of the picture.
Haavard looked up from his easel, pausing in his drawing. "Vantid drew that. I think it's called 'Tiger Wish'."
"She looks so...longing. I can relate to that."
"Still missing Damon?" Haavard was surprised to hear that the jackal had even been dating, but he didn't push for details. All he knew was the jackal had been sad up until last week. Then, it seemed Venti had returned to his usual good natured (if not very flirtatious) self.
"Sometimes. What's done is done, and I'm looking forward to being off the rebound. I miss dating. I miss the innocent flirting with guys, and sometimes not so innocent." He turned towards Haavard. "How's the drawing?"
"Almost done," Haavard studied the picture, and while Venti couldn't see it from where he stood, he could see the dog lost in thought.
"When do I get to see it?"
Haavard smiled, as Venti sounded very much like someone impatient for Christmas to arrive. "Soon, I promise." He paused, wondering if he should say what was on his mind as he looked at his creation, then at Venti. "I think I ended up making them look handsome, but more inviting or calm, something more friendly than when the shades are on."
Venti tilted his head, arching an eyebrow. "Huh?"
"Your eyes. I like them, but I can never get a clear rendition of them. The shades are always concealing them."
Venti stood there for a moment, then slowly walked over to Haavard, crouching down so that both canine and jackal were almost eye to eye with each other. As Venti stood there, so close, Haavard wondered briefly if the large jackal was going to kiss him, something he would never confess to anyone that it would be something he'd probably enjoy. Before he could say anything, Venti lifted up his shades, revealing those red eyes. "So are you going to draw them or not?" he asked with a toothy grin.
Haavard had never been so enthusiastic to draw eyes except on that day.
