Hello everybody, introducing my new comic series: Alptraum
I've been working on this for some time, it's a project for my American Literature class, drawing up a comic book based on a character of our creation. The good news is that the project wont be graded on artistic ability, so I can go with a very minimalistic and monochromatic approach.
I'll be posting the pages as I complete them, the entire book should be about 7-10 pages, and will be a sort of contemporary noir. It will follow the daily exploits of Alptraum, the titular character, as he roams the desolate streets of a dystopic megacity. Alptraum is unique among the freaks and degenerates of his world, the longer he goes without sleeping, the more pronounced his superhuman abilities become. As a result, he is perpetually suffering from the increasingly debilitating effects of sleep deprivation, such as hallucinations and paranoia. My influences for this series include Less Than Zero by Bret Easton Ellis, a book about post WWII Warsaw I read as a child, and Dennaton Games' Hotline Miami.
So yeah, I'm pretty excited to be working on this thing, I think I can bring a lot of cool things to it and establish a concrete series.
