I always thought the space combat system here was one of the more plausible ones in fiction. Much better than the more usual "close to nostril hair's range then shoot everything" tactic...

Yup. Spend days setting everything up and hoping for the best. Then once it is time everything happens faster than you can track and then you check to see if you are still alive and need to do damage control.

This is either the most ingenious combat maneuver ever, or the STUPIDEST!

Given the relative lack of maneuverability of the ship compared to the ACVs, just powering through is as good as anything, as the defenses can be concentrated.

"Terminal Defenses"? Is that a reference to close range interceptors? Like auto-cannons or some such? And are some of the drones ECM platforms for spoofing the seeking sensors on the attack ACVs?

Really digging this "hard" SF combat.
