"The Red Guitar" Improve on 1960s parlor I just fixed up
I bought this guitar at goodwill for $25. I is an old sears robuck harmony silvertone from sometime in the 60s. It had some hacked up work done to it including the bridge being attatched with screws and in the wrong spot, it didn't at all play in tune. It also had a tone of cracks, a couple of which were fixed with some kind of putty or bondo. It's kulson tuners had been replaced by some cheap looking bargin tuners, its braces were falling out and it needed a neck reset.
I reset the neck, gave it new frets, new inlays, new tuners, carved a new bridge for it and fixed the cracks and braces. I also added a 20" radius to the fretboard for comfort.
Its a pretty bangin guitar now. I am trying te decide if I want to sell it or keep it. At this point it's had over $1000 worth of work put into it.
