16 years ago when I was 10 I was given my very own cat. Of course she had to have a black coat and I gave her a name to match, Midnight. Sadly I recived the phone call today that she had passed away. I remember I use to pack picnic lunches for myself and her. We would walk together in the woods until we came to a clear opening surrounded by trees and get settled down. I would open her tuna or wet cat food and then lay back to enjoy a sandwich. When I was going through my rough years with deep depression I came home late one night and just sat in my car to cry it out. Midnight jumped in through the window, sat next to me and stayed with me the whole night. We would spend hours together in the back of my moms station wagon, hatch open, and just spend time reading or listening to music. She was one of my best friends growing up and I really should have spent more time with her in the later years. She had an amazing spirit and was a true warrior. I can see her now at the head of the table in Valhalla telling stories and demanding more mice. You will always be in my heart Midnight, I love you.
