So, this is a first attempt at 'matte painting' (a mix of photo manipulation and digital painting),.. I rather like how it came out :)

Ahhhh. Yeah, I s'pose that makes sense.
Then again, traditional matte paintings were on glass. Digital, slowly eroding the need for traditional art... XD
Unless, of course, you have one totally badass color printer. 'Honey, can you drop another section of windowpane in the print bypass tray for me? I've got to get this matte painting out.'

Hella nice =D
What software are you using for this? I'm assuming photoshop since everybody seems to use that for photomanips, but I can't guess at the painting package =? I'd love to know!
Also, I notice the Dark World 1 part - does this mean that it's part of a series? Here's hoping! =D

I did this purely in photoshop, for this sort of thing I found it was easiest to have the manipulation and paint in tools all in the same place, though I could possibly have done the painted bit better with a separate program. I keep meaning to try out some sort of painting package but i've yet to find one I really like.
While I was getting stock photos for this I ended up with a load of Venice scenes and such so I may do a couple more of these; scenes from different parts of the city and that sort of thing :)
