So some people have said to me that rats are vile, disgusting, ugly creatures but I think that, if you think in this manner, then the only being here that is vile, disgusting and ugly would be yourself. Rats are in fact, very intelligent creatures, capable of learning small tricks and accomplishing tasks that would boggle a human's mind.
Since owning Lori, we have had some ups and some downs. Her first nasty habit that resulted in many a sleepless nights was her weird infatuation with chewing on her cage even when she had food, water and toys to chew on. This in itself is not only annoying, but it worried me that she could possibly hurt herself (thankfully the latter never happened).
So since this past March, I began really thinking about getting her a buddy and thus my search for another female rat has begun. I'm actually quite picky in *who* I choose simply because Lori isn't a high energy rat and she enjoys lazing about. She's also not aggressive and I don't want her buddy to be that way either.
I have also invested in a slightly bigger, two level cage for her and her buddy and have begun getting huts, bowls, bedding, treats, and so on.
Below I've listed some of Lori's likes/dislikes and quirks.
~Likes~
Poutine, Salad, Chicken, Salmon, Apples, Grapes, Oranges, Orange juice, Chips, Alfalfa, Bacon, Nuts (she prefers Brazil nuts), Ice Water, Cream, Cheese, Clover, Dandelions, Baths and Cereals.
~Dislikes~
Loud noise, sudden movements, olives, pizza crust, bread, peanuts, cage cleaning day (She hates the disinfect smell), thunder storms, cold, snow, and ice.
~Quirks~
Nibbling on my ears, eating my hair, licking my neck and shoulders, sleeping on my neck, sleeping in my hoodie, sleeping with Lou (Mama Kitty her buddy), having me hold her water bottle while she gets a drink, and chewing on her cage.
