There are seriously people who consider themselves "Fursuit Elders" who have all these Rules That Shall Not Be Broken Whilst Wearing A Fursuit.

I assume because it ruins some of the magic that your actually a person in a suit, it's obvious when your voice is muffled by foam and faux fur. Also I think it might have something to do with professional mascoting. When your wearing a well known character, you can't talk because you'd have to be able to mimic the voice of the character your wearing, not to mention avoid un-authentic dialogue.
