If it has a yellow tag, it's a gadget. For instance, there is one in this photo that you can separate into three sections and when you unscrew the handle, out pops a little flask.

If it has a red tag, it conceals a weapon. These are the sword canes, etc.

I wanted something functional, so I got a hazel-wood shillelagh. Perfect for my height already. Strong, lightweight, with a pretty finish/gloss on it. The festival is on uneven terrain and I was wearing a fursuit head. I can fall over flat, smooth surfaces without the fake head on. This stick saved me from eating dirt on several occasions.

Many of the items sold at this booth were antiques, including parasols and umbrellas over 100 years old. All are still functional. Probably rather delicate so not something to carry in a deluge but for a fancy dress party, they'd be great.
