I actually DIDNT watch a lot of Arthur as a kid.
I started watching it 2-3 years ago whenever it was on, and then bingewatching hours of episodes.
And then, I finally watched an episode with Molly in it and just went straight to her like O_____O
I actually relate to her a lot? Not so much the bully aspect, (though I did get a little mean sometimes back in grade school/high school) but she's assertive, snarky, self-confident, an artist, gives awesome advice and likes to help out, has her friends' backs always, and definitely does not give a fuck about gender roles. I really relate to her a lot. I think the tough customers are the most interesting characters in Arthur by far.

I watched Arthur regularly through the first 6 seasons (1997-2001). After that, i saw it in passing, but not often. And recently I went back to watch one of the new ones, but they've switched to paper-doll (flash?) style animation and it just doesn't feel the same. But the lessons are still there, which is what made the show good. I'm gonna be honest, one thing I was never a huge fan of was Marc Brown's character designs... generic anthro people with bland animal heads stuck onto them, and by animals I mean humans with various different shaped ears. I guess that's because Arthur isn't Zootopia, it focuses too much on real world problems of real kids, and the anthro aspect is just to make them less bland, while not really serving a purpose other than style. But the social messages for kids are usually really on point.
Anyway, you're lucky I guess. Molly and the tough customers didn't start getting their own character arcs until after the 5th or 6th season. They were always just the background bullies, and when we finally did get some answers for why (like Binky has had multiple times over the years), it was nice to see. I always thought Molly was cute. I don't think I developed a crush on her like other anthro characters in my youth, but I always liked her.
Anyway, I'm glad to hear the show is still having a positive impact on kinds and adults alike.
