Why is that?

They are very time consuming and plus I had two. They had babies. Big mess. They are cute as can be but their nails hurt, they can jump at any given moment, and they bite. Plus they are nocturnal.

That is why I had southern flying squirrels. So much better than those 'needy' sugar gliders. It's like all the fuss of a girlfriend, except they bite less.

Edit: You have HUGE flying squirrels where you are at, correct?

You have southern flyers in AK. Palm size...Possibly the original Palm Pilot? Best to get them right after they are weened and wear them on you for a couple weeks. My first flyer treated me as his 'home tree' and would perch on me most of the time when he was out of his pen. I kept him in his pen for safety when I wasn't around to watch him.
I heard of a story where a flyer climed three stories just to get back to it's home tree person.

I can provide tons of reference pictures if you need. Their little feet are a bit different. Their big toe is more like a thumb and has no claw. then their two toes next to that are conjoined (they use them as a comb for grooming).
