A World of Words - Me

Have you ever listened to a beautiful song,
Felt your hair stand and your skin tingle?
When the piano flows through the weave of notes and chords
And the strings sing in harmony with some resonant part of your soul,
Do you feel that inexplicable joy and pleasure?
If there were a word to describe that feeling,
Would it ever be good enough, would it feel like its meaning, like beauty?
When you hear the word love, does it feel like music?
When you feel the weight of their leaning shoulders,
Or their hand in yours, does it feel like the painfully beautiful hum of a cello;
Does it feel like the tears of wonder and joy at a truly masterful song?
If you’d never felt a beautiful song, could words ever sing you a good enough picture,
Could they ever take the place of such visceral joy?
Why is a song so much more than the words describing it,
And a world without music so empty?
If you lived without music, could you feel the emptiness?
And so, if you’d never felt love, could you ever live with just words?
