What better subject to choose for a silver scratchboard than a silver fox?
I did this one ... 2 years ago, I think? I really do enjoy working on scratchboards, especially the shiny ones. Sadly, it's pretty much impossible to get a decent scan of them so I usually end up taking pictures - which is a lot harder than it sounds.

Thank you! :)
I guess Wikipedia describes this medium best: Scraperboard or scratchboard refers to both a medium, and an illustrative technique using sharp knives and tools for etching into a thin layer of white China clay that is coated with black India ink.
Where to get one ... it depends where you live, really. If you're living in England or the USA, they seem to be pretty common in art stores. Sadly, they're really hard to get where I live, so I usually have to deal with whatever size and colour I get.
And I'm sure you will if you just keep practicing. :)

This piece is lovely.
It reminds me of probably my favorite metallic colored pencil on black paper I ever did. Looking it up it was five years ago now. c.c
Though from what I know of scratchboard I know that contrast I see here is true. I kinda cheat a little on mine with Photoshop since the shiny colored pencil I would use is not at all that brilliant unless held up to the light at a certain angle and distance.
I imagine scanning this overexposes the reflected light? Losing all the subtle "shading"?
It's so nice to see another on-black traditional artist. I hardly ever see such people. <3
