
The weather has been a bit dreary where I live...and I wanted to draw something summery. So, here's a pic of Amber at the beach!
I'd say the toughest part of this was the beach ball. Translucency is a pain in the butt. Though I think it turned out pretty well. But what I'm most pleased with is how her hair and eyes look. :)

It's a genetic thing.
Well, I used multiple layers to get all the effects. Originally I was going to tone down the opacity, but then you don't a proper thickness Fresnel effect. Fresnel being how it appears to get more opaque as you get to the edge of the ball because you're actually seeing more material at once. So I turned down my brush opacity, painted in a light layer of pink, then painted a darker edge on top of that and a lighter spot where the sunlight was hitting. Then I added in more layers with the shadows made by the seams and the highlights that they would have too. Lastly, came the layer that has her arm reflecting off the surface of the ball.
