It was on this day (February 12, 2000) when cartoonist Charles M. Schulz passed away, 24 hours before his very last syndicated "Peanuts" comic strip (a full-color Sunday edition) was published.
Back in December, 1999, when Mr. Schulz had already announced his retirement from drawing the world's most popular comic (due to his illness), a number of 'funny animal' artists were contributing images for a special 'quilt' - offering our collective thanks to him. As a result of his passing, the project became a 'memorial quilt' in his memory.
About two months ago, I'd posted the original black-and-white art here in "Fur Affinity". Today, on the ninth anniversary of this somber occurrence, I'd like to present the completed colorized version of the same 'patch' I'd made for the 'quilt'.
A special thanks to Funimal for providing the colors and text at the bottom of the art.

This may come as a surprise to you, Psion, but the syndicated strip is STILL running in newspapers around the world - even if it IS just reruns. Some papers are republishing "Peanuts" comics from the last decade, while other publications are reprinting strips from 1962, B.W. ('Before Woodstock'). As part of Mr. Schulz' final request, he asks that no one draws any more new "Peanuts" strips in his place. So, what you see from Mr. Schulz (both in newspapers and in Cyberspace) is what you get!
I'm more into the anthropomorphic comic fare, like "Shoe", "Pluggers", and "Buckles". You can visit a wide variety of 'furry comic' titles at the Belfry website. Just go to http://belfrycomics.net/
Personally, I wish that the website with all those 'patches' was still available, so you can see who else contributed to the 'Schulz Quilt'. And I could've passed along the link to everybody here in "FA". Maybe someone can revive it for the tenth anniversary of Mr. Schulz's passing in 2010...
