Unlike the other two images I put up (one being concept the other being an example image for application purposes), these are all in game with the exception of the bottom images, which have been run through or created in an editor.
There's a lot of shaky ground to tread on when editing the cutscenes, so I first opted for changing the photographs, and I'm about halfway done. As you can see by the bottom images, the photos and cutscenes both are actually entire maps being displayed on screen, and as such are made up of multiple tiles. Usually in the photos most of the tiles composing the image are unique and thus can be easily edited, but as you can see with the Chain Chomp one, there's a few repeating tiles that can be really messing when attempting to edit. Chain Chomp is especially bad because the data is so scattered that I didn't recognize it until I starting messing with palettes. I actually had to manually puzzle together the image on the bottom right, and make plenty of trial and error edits to see which tiles are repeated and which aren't (hence the stupid faces on the ground and roof). Images like these are going to take the longest to complete, and unfortunately cutscenes have both the issue of being broken apart like this AND having multiple color palettes to work around.
Regardless, I'm having a lot of fun working on this and am so grateful to Joat for letting me contribute to the mod.

They look quite nice, aye! 'Tis good work, thus far! My only real complaint at this point is, admittedly, I'm having a hard time interpreting what is happening with the ears in the top-left photo. If they are like that to fit into the boundaries of pre-defined tiles, remember that editing the photo map itself is an option.
Also, unfortunately, from what I can tell so far, the cutscenes are not stored as maps (if they are, they seem to be in a manner inconsistent with how the photos are stored), and unless one of us (or some expert on editing this game who may happen to see this post) can figure out how they ARE treated by the game, you will be constrained by pre-existing tile repetitions and palette placement, on those (not that the latter is likely to be a major issue).
In any case, I do not recall if I said this to you already, but I, in turn, am quite thankful for your participation. While I am proud of my work on the sprites, if I tried to edit the photos and cutscenes myself, Human Link would be replaced with a stick figure and an apology.
