Huskies are great, but they tend to get lost a lot, and they're the world's worst guard dogs. I went to an electronics flea market last week and wound up taking pictures of four huskies!

Back in the mid-'80s, my girlfriend gave her parents a beautiful , mostly white Husky puppy. She grew up to be a large lady dog, and did her best to kill anything living thing that came into the yard (she managed to murder a skunk without getting stunk). Still, while P & M were out, someone jimmied the front door, walked in right past the dog, and walked out with an almost new TV and stereo. No sign of a struggle.

A little earlier, my brother's employer had a sweet copper Husky. While the boss and his wife were at work, the goblins got in and trashed the place. They're great dogs, but pack dogs don't seem to have the territorial drive of the herding (or Heaven help the bad guys) the flock guardians.

That is good to know. I will get a German shepherd instead.
