**Notice: Fairly long-winded comment incoming! Please bear with me. ^^;
I've actually seen your work floating around for a while now, Chirenbo, but I only now started keeping tabs on your latest posts; and I have seriously been missing out! I'll start off by saying that you're easily one of my new favorite artist. Why? Well, I consider myself to be a highly imaginative individual. While I can't draw, I love thinking in vibrant colors and making the ordinary into the extraordinary; and your art does just that. Your use of vivid color and strong focus on the natural elements is mesmerizing, but you go further by mixing in your own sense of style and dynamism that can turn simple things, like fire and ice, into a cool extension of a character's being. Yet you keep your aesthetic flare surprisingly compact. I can feel the underlying intensity in each of your characters, but you don't overdo your presentation! You let the colors and poses mingle into a flavorful expression that speaks volumes all on its own.
All that said, I can use this piece here as a perfect example. This character of yours is evidently built upon the theme of "smoke," and you make that known in a variety of ways. He literally is a smoker, his fur appears wispy like the fading trails of cigarette smoke, and finally, you blur the line of reality with fantasy, having his fur curl and levitate as if constantly generating smoke itself. This makes the character appear somewhat bigger than he actually is, giving him that "bad wolf" aura that you were going for.
From there, I can comment on your choice of color and naming. The character's name is "Pepper Black," which itself is rather redundant, because pepper is in fact black. But when you take everything into account, there's no better name for this guy! "Pepper" is an obviously pungent spice, both in taste and smell. Cigarettes have a powerful smell, so that syncs up with the potent smell of pepper. Taste-wise, pepper is typically too overbearing on its own and easily stands out, which fits this wolf's attention-grabbing appearance and powerful bad-guy aura. The use of "Black" after Pepper reinforces all of the typical negative connotations you'd expect from a thug-like individual, but it also draws attention to the color contrast of the wolf's fur. Your character, Pepper Black, is nearly all white; even his pants are an off-white shade. His hair is pure white as well, which you could easily have made an off-white color to distinguish from his fur, but you chose not to. Furthermore, cigarette smoke is also white-ish, so even his ability (if I may call it that for now) contrasts with his name.
And thanks to all of this white, the finishing touches on his outfit (simple as they are) are allowed to stand out and round out his spicy nature. His brown suspenders stand out against his toned chest and allow his tattoo "BAD" to be fully seen, since he doesn't have a shirt; all of which does a great job solidifying his "tough guy" nature. His red shades not only match the color of his tattoo, they give him a slight aura of "blood-lust"; which I think is wonderful, since red against white is a startling contrast and red "shades" are fairly uncommon. I think it was a good choice to give him red shades as opposed to the typical red eyes; this pulls off the same sinister effect but isn't cliche. And if it means anything at all, you even wrote his name in color contrast underneath him!
So, long story short, I can deeply appreciate your work from a multifaceted, aesthetic perspective, Chirenbo. I admire all of your characters and can easily see them in an animated world. You have a marvelous talent. And rest assured, I could probably go on in a similar manner as I just did here with each of your unique OCs, but I will likely hold back so as not to come off as overwhelming and annoying. I didn't name myself "D-Tail" for nothing though! Since I can't draw, I show my appreciation for creative endeavors through words. It's what I enjoy doing, and I like to make an artist's day by not just telling them their work is amazing...I want to let them know exactly why, in full detail.
Anyhoo, I hope that wasn't too...much to trudge through. I'll be on the lookout for more of your work, and I'll comment here and there. It's been a pleasure!
