I’ve been in the thick of some righteous anxiety this past week for no particular reason and its making art extra laborious, so I started this to chill me out cause old couches + sleeping OCs is one of my favorite things. Prolly gonna put it to the side for now, but I definitely wanna finish it at some point!
Not sure anyone reads these lil asides, but on the oFF CHANCE THAT YOU HAVE
what's your usual routine when you're in a rut and unhappy with the quality of your work? Really curious to know how other folks cope with their art constipation or just not being quite THERE yet.

this is a really cute picture!! i love the poses especially ;w;
but oh gosh..i feel like a lot of times it depends on the rut? sometimes taking a break away from drawing helps, like finding tiny things on the side to do (not even anything big, sometimes it's just finding something interesting to look up or read about)
also, i've found drawing props helps a lot!! somethings it can help to just draw cute tea pots or dream furniture ideas, just anything that's simple and quick to draw

Ooh, drawing props is an awesome idea! I'm definitely gonna have to spend a night doing that here soon, because I am shamefully inexperienced at drawing non-living things. I remember drawing monster chairs in the past though, and I was stupidly proud of those doodles :U
Thanks so much for sharing!

I'm honestly in a similar situation with my own art atm (feeling inadequate/untalented/unhappy/etc) but what seems to usually help when I get anxious art block is either just drawing whatever the heck I want (which I need to do more often anyways lol) or taking a break from drawing. Or both! The "whatever I want" technique seems to help a lot though. A good bit of advice I've gotten that helps is to just sit down and start drawing the first thing that comes to your head, and if it switches to a new subject, then you need to start drawing that new subject right away, even if the first drawing is unfinished. It helps unblock your train of thought. c: Hope that helps a bit!
More related to this drawing, it's super cute gosh. x3 I love the soft violets and the casual tone of the scene. It's very calming!

Art anxiety solidarity! sobs
That is some really great advice though, and sounds exactly like what I need to force myself to do, because DETAILS man. I get so caught up in them and obsess over perfection to the point of exhausting myself/sucking all of the enjoyment out of the process. It's ugly. I need to work on my weak ass doodle game.
Anyway thanks for sharing hombre! And best of luck powering through those bad feelings -- you've got an awesome gallery and I'm rootin for you!

Yep! sobs with you
Glad I could help a bit! I always get caught up in making my works look perfect too, which is results in the tiredness/frustration like you said. I've been trying to loosen up and draw things in a more fluid/cartoon-y-er way if that makes any sense. xD It's tough to make my brain let go of perfectionism but I always have a lot of fun while drawing looser.
You're very welcome, and thank you so much! <3 Your gallery is gorgeous as well and I'm sure whatever you draw will be awesome. >w< What's most important is that you have fun doing it!

I love the hands, eyes, linework, volumes, feet... all really nice.
I try to mix it up when I feel glum about my work. A new character, making something interactive or animated, a new theme.
Anything to get focused on drawing and to avoid getting hung up on little details.
