Cat Mall, by RusselBuck. For winning this year's Express Yourself Contest, this particular deer got a song of his promoted for an entire year! And damn, its a good song.

Right from get-go, when I heard Russel's competition piece, I knew he had talent. Apparently you guys agreed with me, as he dominated the community votes all the way into the final round.

What I enjoyed about his music was his smart use of samples, reminiscent, if you ask me, of some great fandom samplers such as Sgap [brony] and Renard [furry]. By creating artificial moments of silence, pace, or pitch change he really brought out a unique sound that simply resounded with bubbly happiness. It's the sort of music I'd listen to as a pick-me-up if I'm blue.

And it's here! What here you wonder? Well, let me tell you then, folks.

For those who have been part of the group for the past few months, you know all about the Express Yourself Contest, which starts on the first of January and ends sometime in March (usually). It's a Furry Musicians one and only official contest, and the reception is always really good.

Over 120 submissions were given to me to go over and rate.

Only 12 made it into the semi-finals.

Only 3 made it to the end!
