When she was a young child her mother got sick, very sick. Despite being scared she had been told stories of a swamp witch who could cure sickness and so she ventured into the nearby swamp desperate to find her. With no directions she soon became lost in the swamp. Days past and she collapsed in the roots of a tree, still lost and with no sign of the swamp witch. Her dying wish was still for someone to help her mother, and never a single thought of her own terrible situation.
No more than a few hours passed and the swamp witch passed her small body, still curled up in the trees roots. With a small sigh she unwrapped the thin shawl from her shoulders and covered the childs body. Standing she spoke softly "don't fret, I'll help her" before moving off swiftly through the murky swamp.
It took a mere few hours for her to reach the childs sick mother. There she stayed for a day, bringing her back to consciousness and fighting down a fierce fever. On awakening, the mother croaked out "My baby? Where?" and the swamp witch bowed her head "I'm sorry, the trade was too high." The mothers heart broke and tears streamed down her face. A day later the fever broke and she recovered from the sickness with the swamp witches aid.
On returning through the swamp, the witch returned to the small body covered with her shawl, now having the time to bury the child. Kneeling by the covered body she pulled the shawl back and to her surprise there was a small black, winged fawn beneath it. There was no sign that a child had ever been there. "Well. That doesn't happen too often. I didn't think I'd live to see a Peryton" she murmured as she scooped up the fawn.
She took the young Peryton home and raised her as her own daughter, apprenticing her into her art and skills as a healer and swamp witch, a guardian of the swamp and all it's inhabitants. As Nigh grew older, from an early age she learnt the most important thing her mentor could teach her. All things are trade.

All perytons are described as having antlers, so ad an adult Nigh also grows and sheds antlers like a stag does. Her antlers grow thinner than a stags, though length and number of points is the same as a stags.
Her build is lean and tall with slightly angular features.

I wish I had more time to do an actual picture of her, but I was on holidays midway though
wanderingrae Competition and I'm not happy with the sketch I did :P
