Hi hi all
first sorry for all the chicken stuff lately
This is Boo she is one of my sweeter girls. As you can see here she seems to think that bunny is for sitting. It funny he hopped up crawled over curled up on my chet nuzzling my cheek for fifteen minutes... bwfore she pooped on my shoulder and left.
However shes going through a rough patch today. It started when I found a bloody egg this morning. I didn't think much of it cause no one was acting ill. A few hour later we were sitting in the sun when I noticed Boo had matted blood in her tail feather. She was eating hopping around and acting spry but I was worried. she had a prolapsed vent. We were luckier then most he had managed to lay her egg so it wasnt trapped in the fold of the vent.
I gave her a nice warm bath to clean her up and sooth her nerves. Its amazing how cute and dozey they get in a warm water bath. and I got a little preparation h and pushed all the bits back into place... If you told me last week I'd have to spend 10 minutes Or o with a finger up a chickens butt Id have called you a dirty liar.
Like I aid we got lucky no trapped egg, and a prolapse is very treatable. Boo is currently in a heated shop in a dark little pen with some medicated water and food. I checked on her a few hours ago and while cranky for being woken up he seems s to be doing well. So everyone if you have a little extra love or warm feeling laying around pleae send them my girl way. here is hopping for a quick recovery. *hug* thanks

Just an update Boo is doing well
I'm treating the prolapse daily, shes till bright and chirpy, I've got her set up in her iso box with a big ol bowl of grapes and bean sprouts. (I hit up a local grocer for some discounted produce)
I think what happened is Boo is on the end of her Laying life and this was her last egg. so her body started to shift out of laying mode which caused the muscles and skin around to tighten up and dry out abit before this last egg was laid causing all the trauma we got when it did get laid
I've checked on several chicken forums and they tell me that shes reacting well I just have to keep her isolated and treating the prolpse till is stay down, then maybe keep her isolated from the others for maybe anouther week after so she can fully heal up
