Three out of commission iron lungs seated comfortably next to one another. This is an HDR b/w photo with some post edit. There were stickers and such on the fronts of these machines, and it sort of ruined the 'dark' feel to the photo, so I applied some of my lacking photoshop skills to remove them. ;)
I took a few photos zoomed out a bit more, but I wanted a tight, chlostrophobic framing for this photo.

I shoot with a Nikon D70s. This photo, like a few of mine you'll see, are labeled as 'HDR', which is high dynamic range photography. It's essentially taking a few of the same photo (on a tripod, be careful not to move the camera) with different exposures, maybe one light, one dark, and post processing them together for an awful lot of detail. Much like the human eye can capture. If you're interested, let me know and I'll gladly point you in the right direction for those results. :) But don't expect to get people or anything moving. ;)
And thank you!

Much like your affection. *grins*
I've said it before, but I'll keep saying it because it's true. You've got an outstanding eye for photography, and your pics are stunning.
Oh, speaking of which, we need to get together for the conbook pic! *smiles*

They essentially breathe for you. The rear works like a bellows to compress the chamber, and in turn, compressing your lungs as if you were breathing. Its actually quite amazing when you think about it. Since the discovery of vaccines for such things as Polio, where your lungs would become useless, they're not found in numbers these days.
