Weird, Elton. o.o Near the beginning of this week I started drawing a Valentine's day pic of me and
bustypikachu of us watching the sunset. Though, then scene's slightly different as me and Pika are on a garden bridge.

Mindless following over a holiday sucks indeed, but here's my 2 cents:
If I'm in the mood, I simply enjoy the day because I KNOW I'm into it for my appreciation, and not because of the stupid crowd. And if I don't like the date, I just don't fucking celebrate it, nor even complain about the holiday in question because I don't give a shit about what people in general do in this period, it's not my business after all. Plain and simple. :)

Normally, I don't care. But when people go around parading in your face about it, then it's a pain in the ass. And I'm sick of these holiday lies...and because it is one, I want people to use their heads and think about it. Like where did it come from, why today, and so on.
I'm in my 30's, and for this reason I'm old and full of problems enough to care about people joining holidays. And if you get pissed about Valentine's, be thankful for not meeting brazilian 'Carnaval'. I suppose you would explode in rage. =P
Fun fact: I don't celebrate easter, although 2 of my main characters were inspired on that date. To be specific, the 'wrong' side of the date (a hen suffering because the mindless easter egg consumism).

Well, there's nothing wrong with Easter... if you celebrate the Pagan version, not the warped Christain version.
Three holidays the Christains took from Pagans to use as their own is Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.
Easter is the Pagan holiday that celebrates fertility and birth. The egg is the symbol of birth while the rabbit is the symbol of fertility. It has nothing to do with some kind of man supposely being ressurected, which is what the Christains claim it to be, and has caused a lot of confusion with everyone. So you basically have two characters that are supported symbols of the Pagan holiday. I'm an agnostic, but I'm a nature Pagan, or as some would call it, Wiccan. So have fun with the Pagan version!
Halloween, which came from All Hallow's Eve or sometimes called All Soul's Day, is the Pagan holiday to honor the dead. The act of dressing up for All Hallow's Eve is to scare away the demons that comes to take wandering souls as it was believed that spirits are the most active on this day. The people would wander about to scare the demons and escort the wandering spirits until midnight when their spirits could rest again. And of course, Christains had to ruin it by making people forget its meaning and so some people claim its a "demonic" holiday. Fools.
Christmas, which I don't know the original name of, is suppose to be the holiday of giving and togetherness. And yes, Santa Claus or Saint Nickolus, is a Pagan icon. It's really nothing to do with the birth of Jesus Christ. Historians used the bible against itself, saying that according to the events that the bible says happened around the time of Jesus being born would make the year 02 or 03, and as there was less months in the calendar back then his birthday's most likely in August.
Sorry about the rambling ^^; But still, I accept the Pagan version of these holidays. The Christains just create confusion.

No prob, that's some relevant points. :)
I mentioned 'the wrong side of easter' not specifically because of the christian side, but because most people buy chocolate bunnies and eggs without even having a clue about the meaning behind these 'symbolisms'. But heck, the kids love it! =P

Wow, there's actually someone else on this site that knows the orgin of these holidays? I'm shocked...surprised.
And Christendom really know how to screw things up. They become sell-outs for these holidays and lie about it having any relevence to Jesus. In fact, those religions that support Christendom's way is probably pissing off God...a lot.
The only thing some of Christendom tried to do right is claiming Halloween to be a demonic holiday. Because ever notice how so man other cultures and religions have a day around then where the dead is celebrated? I even have an article about this in a journal I posted. The dead aren't conscious of anything at all, otherwise they wouldn't be dead, there's no point to living and Jesus got himself tortured for nothing then. But, there are demons that pretend to be spirits to mislead, and they've had PLENTY of time to practice their acts so they are very convincing to be your dead loved one, but don't be fooled.
Easter...yeah, that was just messed up. Like X-mas, (I won't even refer to it as 'Christ'mas) I just didn't see the connection between Santa and Jesus' birth...like how the Easter Bunny and Jesus' resurrection. It's all BS. All of these pagans celebrated have pagan origins, well the mainstream ones.
It's okay if you want to accept pagan worship...but just know, they didn't like God, they created gods of their own. So you're basicly making yourself God's enemy...

Actually, so you know, Paganism is a lot older than Christianity. And there's a lot of different versions of it. My version of Paganism has no deity, just spirits of nature. And in all honesty, who can argue with nature? But, yeah, I don't like how Christians ruined the Pagan holidays.
Ah...that's good you at least don't worship all the dieties. But when it comes right down to it, you're still doing the same holidays that God has condemned doing, so still celebrating these holidays no matter what the reason is wrong to him. That includes any religion. Only one holiday was to be made mention, the death of Christ, and not by watching Mel Gibson's version Passion of the Christ.
Well, I wish you best of luck. Enjoy the little time you have in live, because if you hate God that much, then pretty much there's no hope for them of living forever. And I don't mean everyone going to heaven BS either, makes same sense as Christendom in the holidays.
Well, I believe in the right for everyone to believe in what they want to. But when they start saying that what I believe in is wrong or trying to tell me what to believe in, I politely tell them to go the hell away. Also the worse kind of religious people are the religiously extremists. Geez, they're a pain in the ass. But I don't hate God. I just say there's no proof he even exists. Too many people have blind faith, but that all it ever is. You never get any truth out of it and you close your mind of to a lot of truths that exist. As I said, I'm a man of science. I can't keep my mind closed. Though, if you want to call me religious, that won't quite work. I'm a goth with a strong agnostic sense of reasoning. I just go with nature Paganism because you're not dealing with any so-called deities.
Trust me, I'm a skeptic person myself. Not to mention that I'm not one of those psycho religious freaks that people avoid like the plague. But there is proof that the Bible is real, and how it fortold events of today's world. All the sects, cults, and other forms of worship that proves to be false. As well as how people's behavior will dominate in these times. It even gave a foreshadowing to WWI, but I won't go into too much details here. And as for proof God exists, there are many that can say that he does from just living. I'm one of them, and trust me when I say that...
Well, to me the Bible is just a book. That's all it really is. Even if it is the supposed words of God, they've been transulated through men and should not be taken literally. But people can say what they want. Their so called miracles can be explained through science. There's no real proof that a god even exists. It's just blind faith of the religious. People can have their faith since it gives them something to believe in, but one of the most annoying people of the religious, other than the extremists, is those that use their religion as an excuse to not take responsiblity. I've heard a lot of Christians take that path. "Oh, God has it all planned for me." No, people. That's what being a Fatalist is where you think it's all to fate. Those with deities are suppose to be given the right of free will. Says so in the Bible. And what about the saying, "God helps those that helps themselves?" Are they just ignoring that? Udder foolishness.
Yeah you see the funny thing is that Saint Valentine was a faggot that went to prison (no aggression towards any gayfolks). And how the whole holiday of give hearts and notes to the numerous persons in their cells. It kinda surprising that they made a holiday after the guy knowing how society well-known hatred towards the gay crowd.
