Maybe including a gravity gun would inspire such, but honestly I like her the way she is.

Add an overly complex and massive watch to your forearm. Leather gloves are also good. Perhaps add a backpack that powers the ridiculous watch too :3

Okay, so first off: Gorgeous work. You have such consistently high quality drawings, it's amazing.

I think one thing you could do would be to add Victorian-looking ruffles to the front of her shirt; most steampunk stuff is pretty much Victorian fashion in the future, so that would add to the feel of it. She could also be holding some sort of gun or other contraption that is sort of brass or copper-looking, with a few random-looking tubes coming off of it. Pretty much that sums of all steampunk technology (the tubes mean steam, I guess?).

Honestly, though, I don't think it really needs much tweaking to look steampunk; it looks great so far!

Okay, bit Michael Moorcock that, but it's always appealed to me as an image. Throw in sufficient goggles and form-fitting leather bits and you got yourself steampunk, I think :)

If you're going for the protective lab gear type of steampunk, go all the way. Long leather coat and gloves, possibly a toolbelt with lots of stuff for prodding things with.

I use a combination of reference/making it up. Drawing on those mental notes I take of everything.
