Scav and Kiya pulled themselves out of the rubble, staring down arukahdimon with Megidramon who'se tail was twitching in nervous anticipation. Even with three mega's among them, they couldn't seem to gain any advantage. "At best...we're keeping the fight at a standstill. It's a matter of who tanks out first..." Scav pointed out, stretching his limbs. "maybe we should have called for reinforcements."
Raising an eyeridge, Max's mother climbed onto Megidramon's back. "Reinforcements should be on their way. If anything Goldramon probably informed the others of our situation."
Kiya was about to ask how she knew of him, but Nova growled his response. "Goldramon is all that's left of Yggdrasil's network. He has all the capabilities of a divine being in this world. If we were fighting Arukahdimon in MY domain, this battle would be going in the completely opposite direction."
Letting out a soft chuckle, Kiya hefted up his gun and aimed it square at Arukahdimon. "We aren't in your domain though. So there's no point in bringing it up...You're supposed to be a deity like Goldramon? That doesn't matter here, just help us take care of Arukahdimon right here...right now. Then we can talk about that."
Upon finishing his sentance, Kiya released a barrage of bullets heading in Arukahdimon's direction, imbuing each one of them with a shard of light for extra impact but for some reason, none of the bullets made their mark, as a matter of fact they seemed to just vanish from sight, at which Scav pushed Kiya aside, as a huge chuck of land that he had previously been had dissapeared, being reduced to basic code. "What...was that?" Kiya's face was one of astonishment, it was as if the land itself had spontaniously deleted itself.
"It's his eyes..." Scav growled, pointing toward Arukahdimon while making sure not to stay in one place at the same time. "according to the digivice it's called the God Matrix...it reduces everything to nothing but primitive data. It's seemingly invisable to the naked eye...but they can't fool mine."
With an irritated snarl, Kiya looked at Arukahdimon while following Scav's movements. "So then your powers from the real world work here?"
"What powers?" Nova called out, snarling as he opened his jaws and let loose a fiery inferno, burning everything in it's path to get to Arukahdimon. While some sparks of flames hit their mark, the majority ended up just vanishing, turning into 0's and 1's.
"Back in the real world...Scav is part of a clan of interdimensional dragons. They have the power to open portals to any dimension they know of, and can even create their own worlds...albiet small. They also have exceptional senses, as such...Scav can see the world differently, things that would normally take a telescope to see from a distance, or a microscope to see up close, he can do at a single glance." Kiya explained with a sigh. "In the digital world it was locked though. The only ability from the human world he had there was his ability to sense and react to other peoples emotions."
Taking a deep breath, Scav closed his eyes for just a moment, then grinned. "I can access my own dimension! I hate doing this since I spent the last 50 years building the place but we might be able to seal Arukahdimon away."
Both Kiya, AND Nova's expressions brightened when they heard this news. But it was Kiya that began to look skeptical. "How long would it hold though. And...like you said, you spent half a century building your dimension up, could you really forsake it?"
Scav put a hand on one of his knees, sighing. "I won't like it but I'll do it to give us some breathing room. The problem will be he'll be released from my dimension once everything's been erased. my world is an estimated 15 kilometers...I don't know how long it would take him with his God Matrix to destroy that much land but I can guess we'll at least have ten minutes worth to come up with a more perminant solution. Plus...it'll give us some time to rest and wait for reinforcements to arrive. We won't survive on our own."
Kiya looked thoughtful for a time. He'd been to Scav's own dimension once. It was a beautiful utopia. For him to give it up like that took courage, and it tore Kiya up too as he clenched his teeth. "Do it..."
Nodding in affirmation, Scav took one deep breath and lifted his paws towards Arukadimon, a purple tinted portal started forming just behind Arukahdimon, with Scav leaping forward and using a combination of his hightened eyesight, speed, and power, managed to put all of his strength into a single kick that sent Arukahdimon tumbling into the unknown space. Almost immediately, Scav closed up the portal and fell to his knees. "It's...done."
Looking dumbstruck, Nova approached Scav, skeptacle to say the least. "How do you know it'll hold him for any set time?"
"Well..." Scav panted, suddenly de-digivolving into Agumon, he growled at his sudden force of de-evolution and sat back. "I don't know...But judging by how much his God matrix can destroy at a time I gave it an estimate...my world is organic though, so there's no telling if he'll be trapped any longer or shorter. I guess opening up that portal drained the last reserves of energy I had left."
Kiya approached Scav, attempting to console him then gasped as he shrunk back down to the form of a Dracomon. "I guess we were running on fumes this time. It's to be expected since you haven't changed back into an Agumon since our encounter with Kentaurosmon. And Overdrive takes a lot of stamina."
Nova growled, staring at both of them. "Grrrah! What good will sealing him up do if you two aren't in any fighting shape to take him on when he gets out?"
"The GOOD, is buying us time. YOu said thata Goldramon probably sent us some reinforcements. It takes about thirty minutes to get from the Sky palace to here, 10...if you're flying at Blade's speed." Kiya pointed out, looking at the time on his digivice and setting a timer for ten minutes. "We can use this time to rest. Eat, take a nap...do whatever we can to replinish as much energy as we can."
Meanwhile, on their way to the castle, Alphamon took a deep breath, holding Jesse in his arms all the while, when suddenly, his body started glowing, sending him reverting back into his Dorumon form. "Uh oh..."
"WAAAAAAH!" The two of them shouted at the top of their lungs as they started plummeting down to the world below. Jesse shouted with a low growl, in his Loweemon form. "The hell happened!? Why did you de-digivolve!?!"
"It must be Scav! My digivolution is dependant on his own reserves of power. So long as he remains a Mega so do I!" Dorumon responded, making a swimming motion towards Jesse, climbing on his back.
While this irritated Jesse, he knew that they didn't have many options at this point. "Doru...if we don't make it out of this I just want to say...You're a blunder of a royal knight!!"
"You don't have to be hurtful!" He flailed his arms about, cringing as the ground was rapidly approaching, just seconds before they would hit the ground he closed his eyes. "This is it!"
With a low growl, a golden sillouette leapt forward, catching the two before they made impact, dashing into a set of bushes in the process.
"Are we dead...Jesse tell me we're not dead..."
With a grumble, Jesse shook Doru off. "Open your eyes. We're not dead Dorumon."
When he did, Dorumon hadn't expected the sharp, golden claws set before him, the shining form infront of him made him cringe as he realized who their savior had been. "Reapermon...Did you...save us!?"
Jesse pulled himself out of the skeleton digimon's arms and helped Dorumon out too. "I think he and I have some unfinished buisness."
"Ugh...so we have to fight this guy before we can ge-"
Jesse placed a hand infront of Dorumon, shaking his head. "No fight. Trust me." With that, Jesse stepped infront of Reapermon, the gesture in itself was futile, since the Mega towered several feet above him. "I know why I hated you for so long. And why I couldn't come to accept you."
Reapermon stared down at Jesse, crossing his scythe arm, and actual hand together. "And what did you conclude?"
"Well..." Letting out a deep breath, Jesse sat down infront of the large digimon. "I concluded that the reason I hated you...was because you represented a part of me that I never wanted to accept. The part of me that enjoys the thrill of battle, and that could kill without remorse and that scared me. So I was desperate to conquer..."
"If it scares you so much why do you not try to destroy me right now?" Reapermon asked in a harsh tone, as if demanding answers of his own.
That got Jesse's attention as he looked up at Reapermon. "Idiot...I said it SCARED me. I'm over it now. After spending half a day in Goldramon's temple I came to realize something. I think Max realized it before me and that's why he's not unhindered, or why he can fight on par with the demon lords. And it's because he'd accepted Chaos for who he is! Because they are both one and the same, he's come to know himself more than most people will admit. And...until I can do the same, I won't be of use to anybody."
The response obviously caught Reapermon by surprise, who nevertheless, crouched down so that he was as close to eye level to Jesse as possible. "If you accept it...what's to stop you from killing again? You've done it in the human world to many trainers through Nidoking. Can you say that you won't turn on your friends, or feel the desire to kill?"
Jesse closed his eyes, remaining silent only for a moment to search the answer in himself, then he jumped to his feet. "I'm to be the next grim reaper. I can't be afraid to kill when my job requires me too. But I won't kill senselessly like before. I won't ruin the lives of those who still have something to live for, and can make a better life for themselves. THAT'S how I know that I won't go rampant. It's how I know that desire to kill won't hinder me or my friends. Because I know I'm not a murderer...I'm a reaper."
Suddenly, Reapermon started grinning before bursting out into a fit of laughter. "If I didn't know any better Jesse!! You sound like you've matured a lot since I've come out of your body. SO then what will you do? If you've got the courage to stand up to your fears, then I'll have to respect that."
"Return to me." Jesse replied quietly. Giving Reapermon a gentle smile. "I am you, and you are me. And I can't save my friends and family until I am whole. So...will you join me again?"
Scoffing, Reapermon placed a claw on Jesse's chest. "This life in the shadows doesn't suit me, suit US. If I can live in the daylight through you, that is more than enough reason to go back in. But the impulse to kill won't ever leave Jesse. I hope that you can control it."
Jesse grabbed ahold of Reapermon's claw, reverting back to his human form. "I'm not afraid. You say the life of shadows doesn't suit you. But the shadows are what sustain us. So let's make a world where the darkness can't blot us out."
Both beings closed their eyes, or at least, Reapermon's body language shouted he'd done so, before both were enveloped in a tint of purple, wind swirling over their forms as they began accepting one another. Accepting that they were both one and the same, and accepting that they could not escape the fate that was in store for them. It was a couple more moments when a massive BANG sounded, forcing Dorumon to shut his eyes and take cover.
Back at the castle, ten minutes had elapsed, leaving the group nervous. But nothing seemed to happen as of yet. Scav was able to move again without trouble thankfully, and with Wisemon's help, and vast knowledge of spells, he was able to restore Scav and the others back to fighting condition. "It seems like that backup isn't going to get here on time...My dimension is almost completely destroyed. At best we have maybe another 60 seconds before Arukahdimon returns."
Nibbling on a piece of bread that a Goblimon handed to him, Kiya quickly recalled the lesser digimon into his digivice as he digivolved into Drakonmon once again. "We'll be relying mostly on your keen sight...You'll have to keep us from getting in the God Matrix's line of sight."
"I know." Taking a deep breath, Scavenger warp digivolved into his Nobeldramon form and started stretching out. "Thanks to Wisemon though, we managed to almost completely recouperate in the alloted time."
Their conversation was cut short, as the sound of glass breaking sounded heavy in their ears, as what looked to be a tear in the air suddenly formed, with Arukahdimon's tendrils coming through them, slowly breaking the tear into larger fragments before the great digimon reappeared before them, a sharp screeching sound sounding from it, which indicated it wasn't at all pleased by Scav's tricks.
Letting out a low growl, he got into a fighting position, ready for anything Arukahdimon threw at them but blinked as a bright light zipped past him in the form of a bullet. From the layout of the colors he assumed it was a prism, which tore right through Arukahdimon's hard shell. He turned around with an expectant look but blinked when he saw the Wargreymon outfitted in RD's prismdramon armor. "Hilt I'm assuming? RD inside ya?"
With a grunt, Hilt flew to Scav's side, nodding. "Your assumptions would be completely correct. I absorbed him through Soul Cross. We figured you might need an extra pair of hands." He blew on the tip of his index finger as if it were a gun. "And I can't lie when I say I'm loving it."
"Hey guys? As much as I'm happy that you two are getting along...Arukahdimon is still up and running." Kiya called out, pointing a claw towards the Super ultimate digimon who was actually REPAIRING himself.
The now FOUR Mega's stared at Arukahdimon as several tendrils came out of the open wound of it's body, before they started forming into a new later of flesh. That was when Scav's eyes went wide eyed. "Everyone fly away!!"
As everyone did so, the area they had been previously standing in vanished, leaving hilt absolutely cringing. "Do you guys mind briefing me on the situation?"
Nova growled as he moved behind Arukahdimon, releasing a great stream of fire before being swatted away by the tendrils, leaving him struggling to pull himself up. "Arukahdimon has an invisable attack called the God Matrix...it can't be seen by the naked eye so there's no way of knowing when his attack will come. Scav can see this attack though, So we're totally reliant on his warnings to make sure we don't become basic computer code."
"UNFORTUNATELY...nothing except your attack...whatever it was, seems to have any effect." Scav pointed out with a chuckle. "SO...it'll be up to you and me to take this guy out."
Hilt raised an eyeridge, before smirking. "It was a new attack I came up with on the spot...we call it Prism shot. But it won't be enough." He said with a sigh, looking towards Arukahdimon, letting out an angry growl. "I can sense it using RD's light energy, I might have the strength to combat him but none of our attacks can delete him in one shot. So he'll just continue to regenerate."
"We'll just have to work together then. If we combine our attacks, we might be able to finish him off in one go!" Scav pointed out, looking at Nova and Kiya. "Together, with Hilt we should be able to win. We all know how to wield light. So how about we channel it with Hilt's and deliver a blow that Arukahdimon will never forget."
For a couple minutes, the group started discussing how they were going to set up their plan. They all nodded in agreement while staring at Arukahdimon who for the moment, seemed more interested in destroying the land surrounding them as if to prevent escape. "Break!" They all cried out before flying into seperate directions. Kiya opted out of going into Overdrive mode, instead using his arm cannon to shoot several beams of light in Arukahdimon's direction. It got him focused on the armored dragon, and a quick flick of the tail from Scav gave Kiya all the warning he needed to zip away as the wall behind him was deleted. Nova circled around Arukahdimon, using his fangs to bite into the monster's flesh and knock him to the ground. Thankfully it worked, as Scav and Hilt came up abruptly after.
Concentrating all of the cores centered around his body, they began to form into a great ball of light in Scav's hands, before he launched it right at Arukahdimon. "PURIFYING STRIKE!"
Lifting up his own arms, Nova started forming a ball of fire which quickly started shifting into several colors before launching it. "Prism force!"
The two attacks were headed right into Arukahdimon's direction, but when it's eyes started glowing they began to grow nervous. The God matrix broke apart the Prism force attack, forcing a cringe out of Hilt. "Uh oh..." He cringed, ready to dip down but yelped as his legs suddenly vanished, completely dissapearing and forcing him to crash into what little remained of the ground below.
"Hilt!" Kiya and Scav called out, watching in horror as Arukahdimon's eyes started glowing once more, a clear indication that the God Matrix had been activated again. Both powerless to stop the attack, they closed their eyes in anger, clenching their hands.
However, just as the eyes began glowing, a thin black cape enveloped his body, though the interior was a crimson red, which he struggled against for a moment, waiting for the inevitable. Yet surprisingly...nothing happened. When he tried pulling up the cape, he noticed that the ground around him had all but vanished, save for where he had been curled up. "What..."
Just as he was finishing his sentance, the cape started flying off, attaching itself to what appeared to be a human Jesse. The cape bounced a bit across his back in the wind, He held a lengthy death scythe in his right hand. His black shirt that he usually donned had been replaced with a Silvery threat, looking vaugely similar to what one would see on chainmail armor, the leather red straps that used to wrap around his chest and arms were replaced, with golden purple chains, pulsing with shadow energy as they crawled along his skin as if they were alive. The strangest but most signifigant part of his transformation was his complexion. His eyes became slit, much like a cats, and grew two horns, one on either side of his temple as if to represent a demon, skin slightly glowing with a golden shimmer. He tapped the end of his scythe's handle on the ground, getting the attention of Arukahdimon. "That's enough. You've done more than enough to prove that you're a formidable opponant."
With another ear splitting shriek, Arukahdimon's eyes glowed bright, indicating his next attack. "Watch out! His God Matri-" Scav tried to call out, but the cape that had been hanging on the back of Jesse's frame suddenly formed into a wide shield, blocking the attack as noted by the walls on either side of him vanishing. "How..."
Jesse declined to answer, the cape floating infront of him suddenly changing into a pair of wings on his back as he took flight at incredible speed. He brought his Death scythe to bare, then with a single swiping motion, Arukahdimon was cut in two, getting another cry out of the abominable digimon. Both wings on his back then detatched themselves, growing and expanding to engulf both of Arukahdimon's halves, when they shrunk down, Arukahdimon had been split into two forms, each of them at the base rookie level. "How about you two finish him off?"
Scav and Kiya looked dumbfounded when they were told of this, but neither of them were about to argue with Jesse's newfound appearance or powers. Scav's organic sword formed over his wrist which he used to cut the weakened Arukahdimon in two, deleting one of his forms.
"Well...as long as we finish this up!!" Kiya pointed his gun in the remaining Arukahdimon's direction, instead of light this time, a hail of bullets brought an end to the digimon's rampage. "Whew..." Kiya let out a deep sigh, then blinked as he flew over to Hilt with a saddened expression. "Hilt! Are you okay?"
With a cringe, the Wargreymon nodded, sighing as data started pouring out of where his legs had been. "I was foolish to think we could win that easily."
Flying in his direction, Jesse approached Hilt and knelt at his side. "Give me a moment...I'll restore your legs."
Before Hilt could ask HOW, Jesse's cape covered the destroyed section of Hilt's body, there was a glow for a moment beneath the sheet then just as it was removed, Hilt's legs were back where they belonged. "My death cape can repel most attacks, as well as devour the energy of my opponants. When I reverted Arukahdimon to rookie level, I absorbed the vast ammount of energy it had accumulated during it's lifetime. Used that to restore your legs. Death isn't in store for you today." He said with a smug expression.,
"FIne...but how did you get so powerful?" Hilt asked, stretching his legs out a bit. "Our reports never rated you at this power level before. And you're not even a digimon right now."
Crossing his arms, Jesse pointed to the west. "There's no time to explain. Doru is making his way to Belphemon's lair and we should too. Max and I need to be together if we're going to stop the Darkness from reaching it's final form."
Scav growled in irritation, scratching his head as he wanted ANSWERS, but decided that Jesse was right in this case. "Fine...lead the way. I guess Goldramon was right, if you became this strong in such a short time, then the prophecy is indeed true."
Kiya smirked, giving Scav a few pats on the back, then just as suddenly, sucked him into his digivice without warning. "You need rest. Two consecutive battles without much rest...this time I'll be the one to fight."
