Silver's Promise is a Klaive that is going to be canon (hopefully) in the By Night Studios: Mind's Eye Theater: Werewolf: the Apocalypse setting.
It is also going to be made into a physical latex weapon, thanks to the BNS KickStarter and Waypoint Games.
Based on a concept from a tabletop game of Werewolf: The Apocalypse run by my friend
dogsoul, the new incarnation goes along these lines, but may be revised or altered to fit the official storyline:
Before the Apocalypse fell upon Gaia, there was a Caern in Colorado known as Silver Heart. A natural silver vein ran through the Caern, and Silver was the totem spirit. On a great mission, a broken klaive had been claimed from the halls of Fenris and brought back. It was reforged with the silver of the Caern, a Fenris spirit bound to it, and the klaive blessed by the Caern spirit as its protector and known by the name "Silver's Promise."
But the Caern was lost when a great Spiral Dancer known as The Destroyer and his pack arrived, killing the Theurges and then burning the Caern to magma. Within the ruins remained Silver's Promise which was discovered by the owner's Metis son known as Runs-Red, who now holds it in his possession.
The blade is fairly simple in its design, other than its gleaming, mirrored silver blade, as it does not need fancy adornments to prove itself worthy in combat. It can be wielded single, or two-handed.

Forsaken was a completely different game, designed with a different theme and setting. White Wolf took what they'd learned from 10 years of one game and created another with new ideas and recycling others that they still wanted to keep.
I've also heard that 2nd Edition Werewolf: the Forsaken was pretty good too.
I give props to White Wolf for completing their story they wanted to tell and moving on.
We still have HUNDREDS of WoD books to use for reference from the progressive story of the Classic World of Darkness.
We also now have the 20th Anniversary edition/story too, and a 4th Edition that should start showing up maybe as early as this Fall, but maybe next year (I haven't heard any details from the new White Wolf Publishing folks, but I imagine we'll get some big updates this Summer.)
There are a lot of folks who enjoy Forsaken. It wasn't for me, but then again I like many games that others don't too, so I don't belittle them for the game they do enjoy. Forsaken and NWoD/Chronicles of Darkness (CoD) didn't kill CWoD either... it game to an end and something new came up after it. Both have their flaws and their merits, and that's what makes them unique and enjoyed in different ways.
