Zootopia 2: The Natural Order - Chapter 3 (Original Idea)
Afternoon in Bunnyburrow:
The rabbit residence always work so hard on their carrot crops and other vegetables. Especially when other animals help out who are larger then them and stronger too. Nick Wilde and Gideon Grey were helping Judy and Bonnie plan fresh new crops in the carrot patch. Nick was wearing a white tank-top instead of his traditional green Hawaiian shirt. Mostly to help deal with the heat he was mildly feeling, but also to make sure he didn't ruin his favorite shirt. He may have gotten used to the warm weather in Sahara Square, but in Bunnyburrow the weather was much more natural. He found it a rather fun challenge to try and adapt to the country life.
Once they finished planting the last line of crops, Judy and Bonnie decided to take a break. Judy stood up and brushed the dirt off her pants. "Okay," she said with a proud smile on her face, "I think that deserves a drink of some freshly made carrot juice."
Nick chuckled embarrassingly as he rubbed the back of his head. "I'd prefer a bottle of spring water if you don't mind."
Bonnie nudged him gently in his side. "Oh don't be like that Nick, you'll love our family's carrot juice. It's quite good."
Gideon placed his hand on Nick's left shoulder. "Trust me. As a fellow fox I can tell you that it is a very delicious beverage."
Nick politely scoffed. "Okay, okay, I'll give it a try."
Judy followed her mom to the carrot stand where they had the juice. "Be right back boys." Once Judy and her mom got to the stand, she reached into a cooler and took out a glass bottle with their families name and logo labeled on the one side. She handed it to Bonnie as she reached for a second one for herself.
Bonnie reached for a bottle opener on top of the stand and began to open her drink as she talked to Judy. "Your friend Nick sure is a nice guy. If your great grandparents could see our family now, working together with foxes..."
Judy popped open her bottle by twisting it off with her shirt. "They would probably put us all in crates and send us down the river." They both shared a little laugh. "It is nice that predators and prey are working together more than ever these days." Judy looked over at Nick and Gideon who were have a conversation themselves and smiled happily. "Never would've thought that when I joined the ZPD that my partner would be a fox who's also become my best friend." She turned her head back around and twirled her bottle around a little as the smile stayed on her face. "Never would've seen it coming from a million miles away."
Bonnie giggled softly at her daughter's words as she took a sip of her carrot juice. "So how many has it been so far? Forty-seven? Fifty-eight?"
Judy was about to take a drink of her own juice but stopped at her mother's question. "How many has what been?" She started to drink as she listened to her mother's answer.
"You know", she said as she shrugged a little, "How many dates have the two of you been on so far?"
Judy chocked on her juice and spat it out. Coughing a few times before she caught her breath, she looked at her mom with the a look of shock and confusion. "WHAT!?" She paused abruptly and looked over to see Nick and Gideon looking at them with concern. Judy made a fake smile and embarrassingly chuckled as she waved to them. "Don't worry," she shouted while maintaining the charade, "We're all good over here!" Nick and Gideon shrugged off their concern and went back to their own conversation.
Bonnie looked more confused than Judy as she set her bottle on the stand. "Sweetheart what is it?"
Judy tried to get a hold of herself and she whispered to Bonnie. "Dates? What in the world gave you the idea that Nick and I were dating?"
"Well you are aren't you?" Bonnie happily smiled at Judy. "I'm not judging you Judy, he seems like a nice guy to be with."
Judy began to feel more embarrassed. "Well...yeah...he's a nice guy but..." She suddenly lost the words.
"Oh dear." Bonnie covered her mouth with her hands in moderate shock. "Are you afraid of what the other rabbits in the family will think if they found out you're seeing a fox? Oh there's no need to worry about that Judy. Your grandma used to tell me that no one should tell you who to fall in love with. Date whoever you want."
Judy frantically placed her bottle on the stand and held up both her hands as a way of telling Bonnie to stop talking. "Will you please stop saying the 'D' word! We. Are. Not. Dating."
"Huh," said Bonnie confusedly, "Your father and I thought that since you're okay with working and living together that you were." If animals could blush, Judy's face would be as red as an apple right now. "I mean you two both saved the city together."
"Mom."
"You both share and pay rent for that new spacious apartment together."
"Mom!"
"Plus you two have been practically inseparable since you both became partners on the police force."
"MOM!" Judy's loud but unnoticeable outburst caused the awkward moment to go briefly silent. "I will say that we are just good friends and work partners and nothing more to make you stop."
Bonnie smiled at Judy again. "Okay dear. I understand. Just know that your father and I will be happy with whoever it is you want to spend the rest of your life with. We don't even care if you choose to marry an elephant."
Bonnie started to laugh at her own words as Judy palmed her own face and spoke with an exhausted tone. "You are the most embarrassing parents in the history of the world."
Unfazed by Judy's words, Bonnie kept her smile as she grabbed two bottles of carrot juice from the cooler. "I'm sure there's someone out there for you Judy. You'll find him someday." She started to walk back to Nick and Gideon. "But for now, let's go ahead and finish up the work here while the day's still young."
Judy's expression changed to a grin of relief as she calmly sighed. "Anything to end this awkward talk with you." She grabbed her bottle of carrot juice and made her way back as well.
Judy and Bonnie got back just as Gideon finished up telling Nick a story. "And that's pretty much why I decided to become a baker."
Nick placed his hands on his sides as a sign of being impressed. "Well I think you made the right career choice, because those blue berry pies of yours sure are delicious."
Bonnie held out the two bottles of carrot juice to them. "Here you are boys. Drink up."
Nick grabbed his bottle first and examined it. "Look at that, 'Hopps Carrot Juice'. Now I have to try this." He looked over at Judy. “By the way, what were you two talking about?”
Judy's expression turned to embarrassed shock as she took a few moments to respond. “Nothing.”
Nick popped off the cap with one of his claws. "Bottoms up." He and Gideon did a toast with their bottles and both took a drink of the carrot juice. Half of Nick's bottle was emptied before he stopped and let out a big exhale. "Wow," he said as he looked at the half empty bottle, "That is pretty good."
Gideon gestured his bottle at Nick. "Told you so."
Judy made a soft giggle as she took a sip of her own bottle as Nick looked around the area. "Where's Finnick? He should try this too."
Judy looked around too and quickly came to a conclusion. "I think he's still playing with my kid brothers and sisters back at the playground."
"Well then," said Nick, "Let's go and check in on him shall we?" They all then headed for the playground to see exactly how Finnick and Judy's younger siblings were doing.
